Jalen Suggs shot 21% from 3 as a rookie...then 31% as a sophomore...now he's shooting 39.4% on 5.3 attempts a game.

Scottie shot 30% from 3 as a rookie...then 28% as a sophomore...now he's shooting 38.2% on 5.6 attempts a game.

Improvement is definitely possible.

Suggs wasn't known as a shooter, he shot 33% in college, Gradey was selected just for his shooting. I'm sure he will come around but Suggs can do much more that jsut shoot and still be useful. Gradey can't do anything else.

That's fine. Like you said...his shooting should come around and that should be enough.

He looked broken and lost out there. Something needs to happen mentally where he's not feeling like he doesn't belong because he's playing like he doesn't think he belongs.

Dude keeps on passing even in garbage time. How he gonna find his range? Shot? Mojo?

And he didn’t excel with the GLeague either where it’s just an organized scrimmage.

I dunno, hopefully he finally wakes up.

Not one is saying that Gradey can't improve but unlike Suggs he wasn't a ball handler, playmaking wing or perimeter defender. He was a shooter/movement shooter. That was his most NBA ready skill from the jump and it's completely abandoned him. He's not strong, he's not even an average defender, below average ball handler, has shown some passing ability and a decent rebounder. He's got a lot of work ahead of him to be playable on an NBA floor.

Between Gradey and a ex-NBAer like Tyrell Terry I would probably take Terry. A lot of the time these lower lotto picks only work out if they bring a single needed skill to a team they can then build on top of. I don't see that from Dick.

Given how long we stuck with Flynn, I think we will give him every opportunity to show he is not a bust before throwing in the towel. I think beyond the shooting struggles, he just looks he is either thinking too much out there or just playing not to make mistakes. He was showing a knack for deflections, a nose for the ball and getting to loose balls early on. Since then, it almost looks like he doesn't even want to touch the ball, he's not hunting down shots or being aggressive out there on either end.

Man, this thread is depressing. Some of you guys have gone off the deep end. Gradey is currently unplayable and his shot looks broken, but the notion that all he'll ever be is an off ball (bad) shooter is a bad assumption imo. Let's at least give him time for his body to fill out. He's going to be a big kid and if/when he fixes his shot put release it's going to open up some things for him off the dribble which will allow him to show off his good decision making.

The time to freak out if he still looks lost and can't throw it in the ocean is Dec 2024.

An irony here is that both were drafted as low-ceiling/high-floor plug-ins to address specific weaknesses on the pro roster. But I will say that Hoffa was always a reach, whereas Dick was good value where we were drafting.

Agreed with everything, expect the notion that Dick was good value. A low-ceiling player is never good value as a lottery pick. Dick was completely off my personal board for this reason. Low-ceiling 3-pt specialist with zero defence is available without using one of our highest assets/resources

A lot of his issues seems to be adapting to pace, spacing, better defenders. Until he adjusts, would help if there was an offensive catalyst on the floor with him.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

I'm being serious here, Grady Dick will go down as being just as bad a pick as Rafael Araujo. How did you draft a guy whose only real skill is shooting, but who also has a broken jumper. Keyonte George/Jordan Hawkins/Jaquez all on the board. Just shameful.

Gradey Dick makes Malachi look like Steph Curry. We drafted a shooter who can't shoot.... For the people that post his highlights once every few games (cause he can't even perform in the G-league consistently), don't kid yourselves on what you are seeing. Bruno Caboclo showed more lmfao.

Wasn't high on the pick initially and thought he would be a role player at best but I expected at least somewhat of a 3 pt shot.

If the shot isn't going down, I like the player to at least be able to put it on the floor and try to take higher percentage and closer shots.

Why draft players that can't dribble a basketball this high?

Not everyone is DeMar DeRozan who still works on their handle to this day, almost 14 years in the league.

He took 3 shots and missed them all. Frankly his passing is better than his shooting at this stage. At least he is a willing passer.

It was a bad pick, raptors drafted for need and he can’t even do the one this he was drafted for. I honestly don’t see how people have hope in this kid, he doesn’t show any promise. I would love to eat crow and be wrong about him but I don’t think I will. He’s like a poor man’s jimmer at this point lol.
