Siakam is looking out for himself, as he should be.

I assume the teams he wont re-sign with arent offering the deal he wants.

Started with Nurse playing Fred and Pascal like 40 minutes a game...

MASAI should extend him, but looks like he'll take a bag p chips now... pathetic.

Gave him a max after being 2nd fiddle to Khawi. Trading him is hard because he now expects a max and matching salaries is way more difficult.

Dudes such a bad defender reminds me of Lebronto. Seeing how Barnes blocks shots and he doesn't says alot. Good scorer but there'd a reason Boston didn't resign Irving.

is our 4 year max higher in pay for some other team's 4 year max due to bird rights

Yes. We can give him 8% raises while another team can only gife 5%. I believe it amounts to a difference of ~$7M over the life of the contract.

That 5th year is ~$56M.

I agree with others. This is not Siakims fault, although I wish he wouldn't torpedo potential trades. This is on Masai and Bobby. They should have traded him at least one season ago, perhaps two seasons ago as tWo posters wanted.

Siakim being the #1 option has led us to our current record thus far. Dude is clearly a 2nd or 3rd option, but he wants to be paid the super-max, which he won't get lol. If we re-sign him, I guarantee it will not be worth it, unless it's a one year extension only.

Please, please, please trade him, Masai and Bobby. Even if it's for garbage. Siakim is the type to bolt for another team in the off-season to mess up our team. Don't assume his "I love Toronto and want to stay with the Raptors" is sincere -- dude is setting upthe Raptors front office for the biggest F.U. of the off-season and laughing all the way to Philly or Orlando.

He said he wanted to spend his whole career here and in return hes being shopped. We haven't made any contract offer and his name is in every trade scenario.

The guy probably feels scorned, he wants toronto but toronto doesn't want him

Its annoying but truth be told - this one is completely on Masai. Just took way too long to smell the roses and come to terms with reality.

Can't blame Pascal for wanting to get his bag.

Should always look out for yourself so Siakam is doing the right thing.. Our front office should have traded him years ago but they were too slow.. Still lots of time to get a proper deal done.

No problem with what Pascal agents are putting out.
That’s their job.
It’s on Masai to figure it out given the information

What nonsense is this? Seriously?

How is he giving the Raptors a hard time? He's a free agent after this season, it's not "giving the raptors a hard time" it's him trying to get the best deal or situation by for him.

You guys are getting worse with this nonsense.

Masai caused all of this by constantly thinking he's the biggest of big brains. Siakam is doing what's best for him and that is completely understandable, our FO **** up and gave every single one of our UFAs and other teams in the league, all the leverage possible and now the chickens are coming home to roost.

Siakam likely has a slight preference to stay in Toronto, but 95% of it is money. He stands to make upwards of 60mil more signing here vs the open market. And while trading means that other team can offer him that too, he doesn't get to choose where he is.

TLDR; Siakam did nothing wrong, Masai took a big fat stinky in his own bed.

I believe we have try to extend him before,
but since he can get super max in some situation but still not qualify
(as he said, he's doing nothing wrong but play hard)
and Masai didn't have confidence to go into full rebuild for multiple reason but keep "evaluation"
(this team would be complete mess without Siakam after trading Lowry)
both party choose to wait and see since the worst scenario may have less chance to happen

And so far the worst scenario happened,
the boat is still sinking but the contract is also near expiring........

it's more on the FO as you can't blame player just want to be normal people to get as much benefit as possible.

"I love being a Raptor, I would love to spend my entire career here," VanVleet told Adam Laskaris of the Daily Hive. "We have a great relationship with the city, the franchise, ownership, management. It's a match made in heaven for me. I love being a Toronto Raptor and hopefully we can continue that on." - June 2022.

FVV & Siakam contract patterns entering last year have many similarities.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

srhcan wrote:The max is not an issue. All the teams who want to trade for him, want to give him max. He can easily agree for any trade and get the max from that team. He is a max player.
So the issue is something different. He is punishing Raptors.

He is 100% allowed to do everything in his power to stay on the team he wants to........what a world we live in where a player who won a championship with a team is given such a hard time for trying to stay on a team - the real problem is players dictating that the get sent to big market teams - this is really the worst take on Realgm

Return to Toronto Raptors
