thunderdunk wrote:Still not sure exactly what we have in Podz. Much better than I originally thought. Lots of energy on D, and rebounds really well for a guard. Still, inconsistent with his shot. If he can continue to improve his game over the next couple of years, he could be excellent. Already looks like a steal at 19.

I was just asking myself what Podz can turn into and what his game can become. Still not sure of a similar player though. He will continue to be a big rebounder. He has shown his step back 3. It's fairly slow, but that's a good shot if he can continue to nail it. Podz is a winning player for sure. Hope he stays a Warrior for a long time.

If anything, Podz is well ahead of schedule when it comes to his efficiency.. and thats while having at least a couple plays a game where its clear he will need to develop or try a new type of shot inside.
During the draft process I had said he reminded me of Dellavedova with the ability to finish inside like a D-Lo or Donte or Jerome. But even those three guys had some issues early on until they altered their floaters and shot selection to be passable finishing at the rim. So far, Podz is basically right with them, but mostly because his shot selection is very selective inside. Its clear his floaters haven't quite translated to the pros, but his touch is apparent and very reminiscent of Jerome.
I expected 40/35/70 at best as a rookie, and Podz has easily cleared that (outside of free throws). He may keep trending more towards those numbers, but either way I think we have seen enough to believe he can be an efficient player that hovers around 47/40/80... which would be amazing.

I think it's funny that he goes up to take tech fts when he's shooting 60% from the ft line

The kid has the rare combination of confidence/arrogance while also not being a ball hog or ball stopper. Usually that much irrational confidence leads to bad shot selection.
