JT Thor is such a likable dude. That said, would he ever record a rebound if it wasn’t rebounding his own missed layup 3 times a game and following it with another missed layup?

If LaMelo wanted to leave he wouldn’t have signed an extension. And there’s no chance — none — the return would be 1/5 as good. LaMelo had a rough game and in traditional RealGM fashion we’re fantasizing about moving him.
He’s one 35-point triple-double in a 2-point win away from “we need to lock him in again soon.” Just how it goes. I’ve been on here almost 11 years. I’ve seen it before. If there were no overreactions there’d be no forum.

He signed the extension because of his injury history. He has secured the bag now, don't think for a second he will tolerate us losing games every year.
Hornets on the clock to put a winning team around him.

Boone is a dweeb. He knows nothing. Any idiot can see this administration and coach is a disaster. Everyone is watching a never ending car wreck…game after game. Kupchuck chews his cud and waits PATIENTLY for the inevitable slaughter.

I like Mensahs effort and defensive positioning, but he's just not NBA calibre.

Re: GT: Charlotte vs Heat 1/14 6PM ET
Catching up on this thread and one thing I’d like to add is how awful of an NBA player Nick Richards is. The moment Clifford talked him up last season should’ve been a sign. He’s probably ok in a better environment in small doses, but if you watch him closely he is always in the wrong spot, uncoordinated, jumps at everything, tries to take rebounds away from teammates and extremely slow to react. At one point he actually looked like he was defending an NSJ drive up the baseline.
Also, Thor is definitely not an NBA player. I know he’s 6’11” and long, but he has approximately zero skill. Can’t convert layups from 2ft away. Also slow to react, gets lost and stops paying attention. Just comical.
LaMelo was +8 in a 17 point loss without anyone else coming close to +0. How is that possible? As for LaMelo, he did take some bad shots but it’s part of his game and he makes enough of them to take the bad with the good. He was also the only player on the floor putting coherent effort in on defense. His defense is not as bad as many make it out to be, I’d argue it was a plus tonight.
The ball movement dies with Terry. I can’t believe the way he’s able to pad stats so well. But we are a losing team when he’s controlling the ball. What’s sad is he seems trash as a catch and shoot three point shooter yet he consistently makes self created threes that are way more difficult. He’s an awful fit next to LaMelo and it’s going to take a new GM and Coach to accept it.
Ish Smith wasn’t on a roster in September for good reason. We’d be better off with Kemba and his cooked knees. Clifford has Ish playing shooting guard half of the time too which is just incredible. Could you imagine if during the summer we’d all be told that Ish Smith would regularly be first off the bench and play heavy mins at the two with both LaMelo and Terry on the court? This is why Clifford should not be an NBA head coach.
Cody has looked bad offensively since he’s come back. But he is our best on ball defender and the fit next to LaMelo in the backcourt is actually good.
I’m now more impressed by Brandon Miller because this is not an environment anyone can really look good in yet he’s looked really good considering everything else.
Is Mark Williams real?

Agreed. And it sounds like a team may have inquired so the Hornets put it out there that despite being ass, they are not trading LaMelo or Miller. They’re viewed as the building blocks.

i'm surprised Clifford hasn't thrown a hissy fit and nagged the front office into signing his old buddies Khem Birch and MCW.

I definitely don't want him to be moved. I was talking about him being traded eventually as something unfortunate they might have to do for LaMelo or because he forces them to.
edit: I'm not frustrated with LaMelo. I'm frustrated with how badly the front office has failed at building a team with him.

While he has solid stats I thought his friendly deal might be attractive while competitors look for depth, but I've soured on Richards as well. Especially hate his defensive rebounding.

Dude it is so bad. It’s no different than what he was his first few seasons in summer league except he’s bigger and stronger now. He plays completely out of control and like he’s slow to process. Kai Jones was better at knowing where to be.

Makes my blood boil and turns my stomach. I just can't fathom what I'm seeing and what he's getting away with on live TV. He's murdering us. The defense fell apart when Mark Williams went down. I'm trying not to be mad at Mark for getting injured because that's silly. But I can't help it. I'm pissed at Mark.
Nick is there by default. But Thor? Clifford is a fan. I think Mensah has more talent and Mensah plays like a dude they just noticed at the YMCA before the start of the game, and invited him to suit up. And how does the coach let Bryce McGowens go iso? That type of play was extinguished in Bouknight and now Bryce gets more PT than Bouk and NSJ. And Thor takes more shots than both.
Ish at shooting guard and first off the bench over Nick Smith Jr. in a lost season is where I fall off the cliff.
Nick, Thor, Bryce, Ish, Mensah don't belong out there. Most of those names are obvious but Nick is sneaking by. He also has a defeatist attitude and quits on plays and cries to the refs and throws his hands up when it's his own fault he does something stupid.

I don't think anyone is worse than Kai Jones at knowing where to be. He had negative basketball IQ.
Richards is no Olajuwon but comparing him to Kai Jones is outright slander
I wholeheartedly agree however on Ish Smith playing off ball though.
WTF is that Clifford?

We all know a lot about Clifford because of how many seasons he’s been here in the past. The sad part is as soon as he was hired, this fanbase for the most part predicted much of what’s been going on.
We knew our offense would be neutered. We knew we’d not be able to inbound the ball. We knew we’d be the least clutch team in pro sports. We knew he’d love skill-less players like Thor and Richards. We knew he’d find a MCW type to get unexplainable mins and we knew he’d play guys out of position and in poor combinations. It’s all exactly like most of us said and maybe worse.
Literally the only thing that makes him not look worse is the fact that Mitch Kupchak holds the title of worst Hornets leader since Rich Cho.

And send iso-Terry with him. Unfathomable he's lasted this long through all these losses. He's a glorified ball stopper. And just when I thought I didn't have to suffer through Gerald Henderson ever again.
Every deadline and offseason where nothing is done, makes me more and more furious. It's absurd at this point. Now we have new owners who are cheap, so that's nice.

Another thing. If you're flirting with the idea of paying Hayward not to play, you can do the same with Clifford. Pay him to not coach and hire an interim coach.
