Re: GOAT 1v1 player (SF Edition)
KD, just depends on where they start (as with all of the 1vs1 duels)
All would have time to adjust and has a chance but probably the safest bet is with him.

Middleton, Turner and PG match up well (he should be on the list imo) it doesn’t matter much because his scope is that high.

Playing with a ref and without a 3 point line, I might be tempted to go with Dantley. The most unstoppable force of the bunch. I won't because of defense and the 3 pointer of course.

If its 1-2 dribbles, KD. Unlimited dribbles, Lebron, Melo and Kawhi are all viable.

That's a variation I've never played. You get the ball outside the 3 point line and get only 1-2 dribbles? So almost every shot is a contested 3? Seems very limiting.

So McHale was the small forward in the Celtics?

Re: GOAT 1v1 player (SF Edition)
Weird to see Bird so high, he wouldn't be close to my top choice. Iso scoring isn't what made Bird so great on the basketball court.
My heart goes Dantley, but his lack of size could be concerning on defense. He'd abuse KD on offense though.

I think its supposed to be just inside the 3 point line or right at. Basically, who has the best dribble pull-up/spot up shooting.

Re: GOAT 1v1 player (SF Edition)
I get why KD might be the betting favourite. That said, Kawhi is easily his biggest competition. Melo might have the purer one v one scoring game, but Kawhi is still elite in that repsect, and the thing he has over everyone is being perhaps the greatest one v one defender ever.
Kawhi can create distance vs. KD on drives. KD can shoot over Kawhi and finish around him if can get close to the basket, but he isn't getting near the rim much in that match up. Kawhi is way underrated in this poll. He's the one player who might give MJ a run for his money in an all position match up.

Re: GOAT 1v1 player (SF Edition)
I strongly think Dr J would beat many of the modern Small Forwards 1 on 1. Lebron included. KDs length would make things really tough for him, but I think he could pull that off as well.

Re: GOAT 1v1 player (SF Edition)
I'd bet on Dantley v. Erving, or pretty much anyone else that doesn't rely on 3 pointers. Just so friggin efficient in the post, it's like playing against Barkley or Kareem. With the 3, probably Durant.

Re: GOAT 1v1 player (SF Edition)
I'd go with Kawhi. His iso game is highly developed while having a killer pull up game. He can drive to the rim a lot better than someone like Bird who also has those things.
I like Dantley a lot as well, I'll put him as 2nd because he might be a lay up lane.

Re: GOAT 1v1 player (SF Edition)
If it’s 1-2 dribbles, KD or Dantley
Unlimited dribbles, LeBron (I’d say his 09-10 self is best suited for this exercise due to the defense and foot-speed)

I was going to go KD, but I went Kawhi. He's pretty strong and has a very good shot. He can get to his spot on the court with his strength and dribble. Plus, defensively, he is a monster 1 v1.

All position matchup? Jordan loses to every elite big one on one. Bill Wennington used to beat Jordan during practice when he was allowed to post Nordan up.
