Probably.

It would be the most Raptors thing ever to get #1 this year...shades of 2006.

Yes, there were good players in that draft, but few and far between, and none were what I'd call a superstar.

Getting the #1 pick in any draft is a huge boon, so long as you have a FO that knows how to evaluate talent.

Thats actually wrong. You forget what the #1 pick entails. Guaranteed Money that locks the Capspace for a Player that probably isnt worth it. In a weak draft, the #1 pick isnt as enticing as you think.

Even if the player ends up just being a productive role player, they're still a bargain at $13M AAV. Again, you need a FO that can find a productive player in a weak draft. I have faith in ours to do that.

#1 is better than a lower number no doubt. My only point is not all drafts are created equal. There doesn't seem to be a superstar talent in this draft. Doesn't mean there won't be but there doesn't seem to be any can't miss stars.

Maybe things change as the year progresses.

FVV as well in the undrafted market. Poeltl was another solid pick who was used to get us Kawhi and now cost us a FRP to get him back.

You can't really say Pöltl was a good pick when you miss Sabonis. If there was one guy who was not a secret in that draft, it was Domantas Sabonis, time and time again, the apples do not fall far from the tree. We saw it with Curry and you just had to figure that some of the good stuff was going to get passed on to Domantas. Even though he does not have his fathers size, he certainly has some of his spirit/heart as he easily becomes the best player on any team he plays for. His assist numbers have grown every year showing his incredible knowledge of the game.

...and I like Pöltl, what is not to like, he is a great player, just hard to overlook Sabonis.

So there was a good record but it took a downturn after Scottie

You're not going to get the player who ends up as the best player every time. That's an unrealistic expectations. Could it have been better (Sabonis)? Yes. But it could also have been a lot worse (Just big mens - Maker - 10th, Papagiannis - 13th, Ellenson - 18th). Raptors got the players with the 2nd and 3rd highest wins share that draft (https://www.basketball-reference.com/draft/NBA_2016.html) while drafting 9th and 27th and you're going to nitpick on one guy who could have been drafted instead?

There have only been 2 picks since Scottie. One was Koloko in the second round and he has been out with illness. The other is a 20 year old rookie. Have some fuc$ing patience.

It's wild that Mike Brown got double what Darko got, and Taylor Jenkins. He was much less angry sounding, with his laptop demo, than those guys. I guess his on court referee charge and ejection was a big part of it. But in postgame he was calm, said how the refs were good guys, he just wanted consistency of rules interpretation. Whereas Darko literally implied the game was rigged.

I think the on court antics and then the pre-meditated film preparation was why.

Darko was running on emotions and 23-2 was ridiculous.

Plus it was just after the Sacramento game where IQ didn't get the call on the late 3 attempt.
