I’ve seen some nice connections from Barnes to RJ, not sure what others are seeing when they’re playing together.

Only thing I’m noticing is that Barnes likes to get his teammates going rather than look for his own especially at the start of games.

There has been zero grudge and you can see it. Barrett will always be a guy who takes the ball downhill as soon as he gets it. That's just his game and it's fine - it works and complements this team well. The issue is more that we use Barnes too much off ball and focusing more on defense. He's an on ball player and should be exerting more energy on offense than defense. Hopefully we start featuring him more. This team looks at its best when Barnes is pushing the tempo for them and trying to score. But Masai will need to get a point of attack defender this deadline to replace some of what OG gave.

Yeah I don’t like how Darko is using Barnes as a POA defender which is totally neglecting his great help D and totally tiring out Barnes which is showing on Offense. Darko doesn’t have a choice since he knows Siakam is giving you nothing but blow bys on D.

You keep saying that despite the fact he has very limited suitors, only 2 (LAL & NYK) & they have some of the least desirable pieces out there.

He is a big piece to fit midseason, rumors have been around Spurs and GSW as well.
I dont even know why NYK would want him as SG. He is a PG: a 2-way one as a triple-double threat All-Star
Dejoute's talent is undoubted and with his contract at his age; He will be very valuable for at least a couple of years.

Too much going on in this trade, but I'd like it:

Pacers: Siakam, Hunter, McDaniels, 2024 #31
Hawks: Hield, Young, 2 x 2024 1st from Indiana
Raptors: Nesmith, Brown, Jackson, Walker, AJ Griffin

Pacers get bigger and better.
Hawks gain more financial flexibility and draft assets.
Raptors get 3 rotational players and 2 prospects.

The fact that a few of those guys are nobodies or could be had for 2nd rounders or rookies tells you all you need to know about how valuable POA is in today's NBA. When the playoffs happen, Derrick White, Marcus Smart will be picked on and targeted for switches. Defense is about your back line and your team commitment.

That works better than a straight Pascal trade for the Pacers since they replace Nesmith with Hunter instead of creating a 3&D hole in the roster.

The Hawks would really have to value those two picks because they don't really gain much cap flexibility as far as I can tell.

Toronto makes out well, as expected, lol.

That seems completely reasonable. Unless it's a team he specifically wants to play for there is no benefit to him making any promises.

He likely already has an agreement with someone. No way we get stuck in a crappy S&T again. Just take the rental package and move on.

He wants to stay in Toronto, or have the ability to pick where he plays next. What a monster.
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

How can he give a verbal commitment before even stepping foot in the new city and without knowing what the offers will be like?

If you're an organization that has his bird rights, you let the money do the persuading.

He wants to get paid.

He's still holding out hope he might make all-nba due to the 65 games played rule.

Extended and re-signed get thrown around interchangeably but there is a big difference. If a 4 year max extension is offered and he declines, you know he wants the 5th year. Raptors would need to move him unless they want the 5th year.

Any team trading for him should take comfort knowing he wants to get paid. If they offer the 5th year, they have nothing to worry about.

That is my .02.

Yeah man this is what is sounds like 10000%.

The. Again..lol..I mean it’s also possible he just wants to dictate where he goes next, since he’s a free agent in a few months. To be so close to freedom, and then the organization tells you “this is where you are going”. Maybe he likes the destination, but out of sheer principle, he won’t give in.

Something clearly went wrong between the org and pascal. What a mess

Yup. The Sixers. Only team that makes sense. They upgrade from to Tobias Harris to Pascal, and atone for their mistake in not maxing out Butler.

Masai's goal now should be to clear as much cap space for the summer by trading Schroder and Boucher for expirings. It's the only way to start building a competitive team around Scottie, RJ and IQ going forward.

Nobody is bashing Siakam here. I actually think he already knows where he's going and I still won't bash him. The is how the NBA works. I think what the poster means when he says "f that" is for the Raps not to accommodate him if it comes down to a crappy S&T with said other team. And I would agree.

I don't blame Siakam one bit for how he's playing this.

Did Poetl give us a guarantee to re-sign with us? I don’t remember that being reported and yet we still did the trade. Some team will out of desperation.

But ... he CAN dictate where he goes. Just by virtue of giving a commitment to sign with the team of his choosing - e.g. Pacers.

Perhaps he doesn't want to weaken the team he signs with. But how much worse would the Pacers be without Jarace Walker? And in a season he seems very healthy, why waste a deep playoff run opportunity with a competitive team?

Should we just shut Pascal down right now, in advance of the trade deadline? Another 0-5 from three game will hurt his trade value.
