Think Furphy is more of a 2025 draft guy but let's see how it goes.

Furphy should enter this year. I would take him late lotto if he measures a legit 6'8-6'9 - he is a pure SF with excellent movement skils for his size and a motor that doesnt quit. Shot mechanics are excellent, seems coachable.

I kind of agree but as a Kansas fan, he should wait to break out as a Sophomore.

This is a pretty lazy take. They're very different as prospects.

JDub: played 3 years of college ball (which allowed him to be more NBA-ready, more developed in terms of his game and his body by the time he got to the NBA. Dominated the scrimmages at the draft combine, measured with a 7'2" wingspan
Averaged 18 PPG, on 51/39/80 shooting splits. 5.6 attempts from 3 per 100 possessions, 22% assist rate, BPM of 6.0

Cody: Had a rough showing at FBA U19 tournament during the summer of 2023. Has had a few good games so far in college but missed about a month with a wrist injury. Hasn't been able to hit 3's since returning from the injury. Is very skinny, needs to get bigger
Averaging 14 PPG on 56/40/69 shooting splits, only 3.2 3PA/100 possessions, 11% assist rate, BPM of 4.3

Between the low volume of 3PA, the low FT%, the small sample size of good 3 FG%, the poor shooting at FIBA last summer and the fact that he wasn't a shooter in HS either, I'm not buying the shot..at least not right now

shakes0 wrote: Yea, Cody Williams is the #1 pick for me. In a draft this weak if you can get another JDub with the #1 pick you grab him without asking questions. In a draft this weak, I'm betting on the Williams' genes.

By that logic, Scotty Pippen Jr, DJ Rodman and Shareef O'Neal should have all been number 1 picks too. And Kris Murray should have gone top 5

Parker Braun should be a lock for the 1st round, right?

What has Cody shown that suggests he's a top 5 pick? For a 6'8" dude with a 7'0" wingspan, he can handle the ball, get to his spots, run PnR, get to the rim and finish near the rim - he can do all of those things pretty well. His shooting is ok. His defense looks pretty good. Lottery pick? Yes, I'll buy that. But I'm not seeing anything that screams top 5 pick.

call it whatever you want, but I'm calling it smart logic. This draft is garbage, the guy is considered a possible top 5 prospect anyway. Why not just take him #1 and hope he is blessed like his bro? Have you seen him play? I can't imagine his brother was better than him at the same time. Also it looks like Cody might even be taller.

I know he's only played 9 games but lets compare his stats to big bro as a freshman.

Cody: 14ppg, 3.4r, 1.9a, 0.8 steal, 0.7 blocks, 56%fg, 40% from 3.

JDub: 7.7ppg, 2.8r, 1.9a, 1.3 steal, 0.5 blocks, 44%fg, 35% from 3.

JDub is in his second year and exploding in the NBA. SHould be an all star by next season. Cody looks every bit a JDub clone, but may even be a little taller.

Like I said, it's a no brainer. Pick Cody #1 and watch him blossom into a great NBA player just like his brother.

Interesting thread. Cody has a unique statistical profile.

I think we need a larger sample size of games to make a more accurate evaluation of him. But as of now, I am not sold on taking him in the top 5.

Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

KJ Adams has huge holes in his game but my god is he good on the short roll. Could be a fun niche piece in the 2nd round.

Ok St seems awful, so grain of salt.

But that was lottery tape from Furphy tonight.

People might scoff when I say how good this returning class is guys like Knecht really does make it true. Coming off a 36 pt night he followed it up with 39 tonight. Even most of the guys I love in the lottery are going to take 2-3 years to get established with how raw they are. Knecht seems like a guy that will be drafted in the mid-teens to early 20s and playing in a deep playoff series as a rotational piece on a contender. He's a cross between Klay and Herro

worst game of the year for Baylor and Walter. Carrington got exposed against a veteran backcourt which was bound to happen since he's so young and raw. But man, his upside is pretty high.

I like a lot of these upper-classmen and feel like playoff teams are going to get a cheap immediate contributor.

Dalton Knecht
Zach Edey
Trey Alexander
Kevin McCullar
Ajay Mitchell
Dillon Jones
Oso Ighodaro
Tyler Kolek
PJ Hall
Wooga Poplar
Tristan da Silva
Hunter Sallis
Jaxon Robinson
Harrison Ingram

Not all first round picks obviously but I think all could play solid minutes right away. Denver is in good position to land another good bench piece.

Any thoughts on David Jones out of Memphis? 6'6 195 LBS, can handle, has a nice three point shot, athletic, can run the floor, he's strong, can defend. If Memphis makes a run in the tournament, I think he'll start to get some notice and may even start to hit on draft boards. I really like him.

I doubt it. There's probably no point for him to do that. It's not like anyone's going to take him in the first round. And he showed enough already to earn the starting center role next year when he can really showcase himself for the entire NCAA season.

anyone know why Ivisic isn't playing? Is this is a replay of the Sharpe situation? He's as gifted as any in this draft, like Sharpe, but nobody has seen him play in so long. I'd say he's killed his draft stock but it didn't hurt Sharpe too much

He’s a lottery pick IMO. Sky high IQ, functional athlete, can really shoot it. Plays with an edge.

Fun player to watch.

I fell in love with his game at the u19 wc but completely forgot about him! He's as talented as anyone in this draft and I'm really wondering how he is on nobodys draft radar after showcasing his talent in the summer.

I'm certain he'll be a top 3 pick at the end of the season, probably even the #1 pick this draft has been longing for

That pass was nuts, it would be great if he is the guy that changes the top of the draft.

LOL that one game was enough to catapult him ahead of any other center in the NCAA and into the top ten.
