It's awesome, a high calibre NBA player who wants to stay with us! I know all you cynics will say it only because of the money - but there are plenty of players who leave money on the table with a team, and leave for elsewhere. The point is he wants to stay, and has 4-5 years left of his prime.

You're more than welcome to be naive and ignore how every other player handles these situations, the rest of us will live in reality.

Has there ever been a story like this before where a fanbase is questioning why a player wants to stay? Maybe we should start there.

Not sure if Pincus is just clickbaiting here or not, but Pacers definitely know that we're not taking salary filler and a mid-late 1st for Siakam.

I believe it. Doesn't mean Pritchard cant try. This was probably what was discussed at the g league showcase and now its leaking.

Easily. 2 young starters that compliment Barnes, plus #31 pick

At least that Pacers’ offer is positive value in that those are two players teams might want on expiring deal plus a 1st. The Kings offer is two undesirable contracts and a 1st. The Kings offer is a net negative.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

I’d say Bruce Brown and his team option for next year but yikes is accurate regardless.

more context

The bait offered is believed to be Buddy Hield, Bruce Brown Jr. and one of Indiana's two first-round picks in the 2024 draft (it has its own and another that is likely via the Oklahoma City Thunder or LA Clippers). With enough targets to choose from (Jerami Grant, Andrew Wiggins, Siakam etc.), the answer may be Kyle Kuzma with the Wizards.

Kuzma is on a cost-controlled contract ($90 million, descending over four years) and would give the team another frontcourt scoring option. While he hasn't done much defensively in Washington, the team has been pretty terrible around him. He was a part of an excellent Lakers championship squad in 2020.

But honestly, the Pacers win by outscoring teams, and Kuzma may fit the bill. Grant is much more expensive ($160 million over five years) with the Portland Trail Blazers. So is Wiggins at $109 million (over four), and his game has dropped off significantly since his All-Star season in 2022.

Kuzma has the best price, is younger than Siakam and probably doesn't cost the Pacers as much in trade. The Wizards were said to be looking for a first, but that price has recently risen to two. That may be because, in part, they have one already available to them via Indiana.

Let them go after Kuzma

Dallas ain't trading you Derek Lively for Siakam and a washed Poeltl. Dont even waste your time.

Maybe last offseason but he's their prized youngster now who isn't being dealt for a rental.

DAL would re-sign Siakam so he wouldn't be a rental for them.

It's funny that they bothered stating that kuzma is younger than Siakam, he's a year younger lol, pretty insignificant.

I doubt that offer even gets them Kuzma.

It's a pretty terrible offer.

It's like the Raps going around the league offering up GTJ (expiring) and DETs #31.

Getting any young player the caliber of Quickley would be a huge win.

They essentially got that in the OG trade. So if they flip Siakam for defense and 3 point shooting, they also surround Barnes, Quickley and Barrett with the missing pieces. What you really need to do is replace what OG gave you which is defense and 3 point shooting from the corners. This doesn't seem like a big ask imo. Of course if you can get young players who can do this that's a big positive.

Ayo and Pat Williams from the Bulls imo is easily the best offer as they're still very young. You cover defense, 3 point shooting role players and backup 4 and guard, but maybe even a couple of guys like this but slightly older works for team fit. I'm not sure how good those young Dallas players are at defending, but I'm not sure we need very high upside if we're in a bad negotiation standpoint.

That’s fine. Dallas can settle for another early playoff exit. Kyrie isn’t getting any younger so if they wanna capitalize on winning something while Luka still has him as a sidekick

Isn't this the Mavs only chance at an all-star level PF?

They don't have cap space. Siakam has ties to Dallas. Similiar to the Kyrie trade in how they banked on signing an upcoming FA (that worked).

You legit have Kyrie and Siakam next to Luka for the rest of Irving's prime. What more do you want? Yak might even be better than Lively for the next couple years.
