with all that said - masai trades just happen, very rarely do you hear discussion tweets before a deal is done.

but this is a domino effect - more trades to come for the raptors most likely.

Why are the Warriors standing pat? Can't they offer a similar multiple first round offers? Or are they just fine wasting Steph's final prime years?

Siakim on the Warriors isn't a championship team.

Siakam wants a max contract this summer, Warriors cant realistically offer him that

There has been plenty of talk about a Raptors/Pacers trade.

Siakam isn't a good fit for the Warriors while Draymond is there and they aren't a Siakam away from being a contender.

there is zero path for indy to take the next step as a team w/o making a trade like this. they have hield who's a UFA. if they don't make the deal then their future rests on the development of mathurin and walker - that will probably kill 2-3 years of hali's prime years. windows to make the next step close quick for alot of teams.

Agreed, standing on your hands is rarely advisable. Haliburton-Mathurin-Turner is their big 3 the next few years w/o Siakam … adding Siakam would remind me of Bucks making a swing for Jrue Holiday few years ago. People questioned that trade then, but it obviously worked. Finding a veteran in their prime is difficult. He checks off enough boxes.

The picks aren’t overkill if they can keep other core pieces like Nembhard, Neismith, Walker, even Jalen Smith out of deal. That’s a heck of a core 8-9 the next several years. Siakam would be the only non-shooter in most lineup combinations so he should feast with the spacing.

and this is an even better trade for indy b/c they have a huge hole at pf and front court scoring.

Pascal is a perfect fit for how Indy plays.

He's going to look real good in that system.

Brown and Buddy Hield would work salary wise with Siakam but anything more than one first round pick going to Toronto is highway robbery…who is competing realistically against Indiana anyway?

Siakam probably going to eat Obi Toppin's minutes, unfortunate break for the latter.

Ws can’t offer close to 3 picks either, think they can only do 1 at the moment.

Siakam doesn't fit Indy's timeline. They should be sellers not buyers

That is 100% who the outgoing Pacers salary will be. If they throw protections on the picks, it may not be horrible.

Salary isn't close in that scenario.

Age wise Siakam is likely in the decline when Hali hits his prime, GSW are a better timeline fit age wise.

It's too good of a fit to not pursue, risk aside. He'll sign with them no doubt as long as they offer a 5th year- he wants his bag and saying no to the Pacers means turning down like 60M.

it's 3 late firsts...the same package that was offered for OG.

it's not an overpay at all....as time goes on I bet it turns into a steal for the Pacers.

The real question is if Haliburton is a legit #1 guy. Siakam is a battle tested #2 option on a championship team. And he’s waaay better than he was when he won the chip. Great 2-way player when he wants to be. Hard worker and low maintenance team guy.

Awesome get for Pacers if they believe they can resign him.
