LaVine for Fultz/Harris/Okeke

LaVine/Caruso for Isaac/Fultz/Harris

For that second trade idea, Wendell instead of Isaac and CHI adds one single juicy lottery pick protected 1-4 until conveyed.

This resets CHI in their rebuild instantly. They can start FA shopping pretty soon even. Maybe get some 1-2 year contracts to avoid bottom dwelling without locking in new contracts yet (similar to ORL right now), also gives ORL like a 9th pick or so instead of 6th pick.

I’m still only entertaining it tbh. But it’s interesting at least.

I’m weird in that I’m still keen on some ideas of keeping max contract space open in as many summers as we can so that we can grab a real star at no negative cost except their cap space. The kind of star that is leaning one or two ways but did actually reach full FA freedom, Donovan Mitchell comes to my mind as a first example.
I also dream about a superstar wanting out and we have the assets to grab him, along the lines of Shai, Luka, even Trae.

Lavine is one of the better fits next to Paolo but his contract is bad and his health is getting worse. That would be huge risk but not without potential rewards. Yes he made some Bulls players look worse than they are becouse he is average decision maker but also some players like Derozan made him look worse in return.

I would also ask about Garland. It seems like Cleveland needs to choose between Mitchell and Garland. At least i would if i was them.
We have some pieces, bigger guards...

Donovan Mitchell would be a get.

He’s not resigning in Cleveland.

Caris Levert also an interesting playmaker. Not the greatest shooter though.

Simons/Mitchell/Lavine add that spacing for Franz/Paolo that you have to respect.

He played 77 of 82 games last year at 35 MPG.

Since coming back from his injury this year he's slashing .493/.395/.800.

dsg2021 wrote:Alright, I’ve said this before. I’m not into league pass scouting anymore so these trade ideas are with very preliminary interest.

Coby White -
Young point guard who is a 3 point specialist. Even going back to his college stats would suggest Coby was aiming for this.

Alex Caruso -
A bit older but not so much that he wouldn’t give a few great seasons of impact. Defense, elite 3’s, intangibles.

Malik Monk -
That SAC-ORL game was eye-opening. I pulled up the stats, normal and advanced. He’s become a good player, 4 seasons of efficient 3 point specialty. 2 seasons of PER at 16.

Dejounte Murray -
I heard his game doesn’t look great when off-ball and Trae is naturally the driver. That doesn’t sound great with how I want Paolo and Franz to continue being Point Forwards like they were when we skyrocketed to 2nd in the entire league for a short while.

Zach LaVine, Jordan Poole -
It would be Otis Smith-esque to acquire these guys. A probable blunder of big proportions. But it’s really their contracts that only hurt at times. The sneaky idea here that would let me entertain-and-still-probably-veto is capturing more talent our way with those big contracts. Names like Tyus Jones, Kispert, Coulilaby, Caruso, White, etc.

Free Agents -
I’m going to exclude players who seem improbable to switch teams or wait for full FA freedom.

In no particular order:
Garrison Matthews
Gary Trent Jr.
Malik Beasley
Tyus Jones
Malik Monk
De’Anthony Melton
Grayson Allen

I’m struggling to remember length and defense profiles for these players but why not woo Melton, Monk, and Trent in summer free agency like as if they were super stars and sign Melton with one or two of the others. But with sneaky discount contract offers that leads to probably only one of them landing here. Markelle walks with freedom to his next team. Garry can be a trade piece right now. Minor trade feelers on Cole, Black, Caleb, and Jett but I feel there’s room to keep them too.
I wish I could see Anthony Black’s 3PA/% in the future to make me stop thinking about PG’s altogether. Suggs can be a great PG for us too, he fits everything we need and his on-ball prowess doesn’t matter with Paolo and Franz here.

I feel like I’m at only 20% of the entire pool of interesting players to look for trade and FA but I don’t want to spend more than 10 minutes on this post, lol.
You da realist RealGM. I like these ideas. We are going to be building an offense around Franchero and are just a 3rd option away from being above average offensively. Suggs, Black, or Jett could grow into this role but these trades give them time.

Suggs is close, just needs to stay on the court more.

I would at least consider him, although his last year is when Banchero extension will kick in. On the other hand he will be very tradeable as expiring so maybe its worth the risk and the risk is not as bad as it seems.
Its either Lavine who is at least good fit, Murray who is not as good of a fit, not a great teammate, Mitchell/ Garland if they are even available or some backup level player.
How much would Mitchell cost ? Would he be interested in getting first trophy to Orlando ?

Was from a Bleacher Report article in December (yes I know it means nothing) but just what somebody thinks it would take for Mitchell….

In this proposed trade, the Magic would send Jalen Suggs, Jonathan Isaac, Markelle Fultz, a 2024 first-round pick, a 2026 first-round pick, a 2028 first-round pick, and a first-round pick swap in 2027 to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Donovan Mitchell, Dean Wade, and Sam Merrill.

Garland is an interesting idea I just don’t think Cleveland would even consider it without having Mitchell locked up. If they would consider it, I’d give up A LOT for him.

LaVine feels like a pretty expensive gamble and early commitment to a 3rd star. I doubt WePark want to make a move that substantial this early.

Caruso I can totally see. Fits with what we’ve been getting from our veterans when they’re good.

First of all, if we acquire Lavine, we are hooked with his contract

Then, in searching for the third star somehow, will that make us mediocre like the Cavs with Garland, Allen, Mobley and Mitchell, who will leave Cavs in two seasons?

If it is not a move for future contention, I’d say no

Magic should see if they can get Brown without giving up too much. Toronto prob has no use for him.

If Mitchell resigned we would still be loaded with players. If not we would be without picks to build around Franz and Paolo...

Tough if we traded for Lavine he could shoot soooo many 3s and we would thank him for that. Its kind of funny to think about that and i wouldnt mind to see it. Going from selfish to brave in an instant. "no Zach 11 attempts is not too many, take a couple more, guys will buy you lunch in gratitude".

If we are looking to deal with CHI, brace yourselves for Lonzo Ball. Weltman just loves the storyline that comes with a fixer upper. Fultz/Bol Bol

3 year.... $33 mill contract....:-/

They would be idiots to trade him unless it's for a "oh damn" type trade proposal. But on that note... how's his defense?

Alex Caruso rental for a year and a half would be ideal in my opinion. Imagine a Caruso/Suggs backcourt????
