Great for the pacers, honestly, they should trade Jalen Smith or Topping now? Smith won't be back next year, so... who knows.

Also for raptors, makes sense for them to trade those picks for an upgrade on the team, not sure they will do it now or in the offseason. They have Gary trent expiring salary to throw around. Wonder what they will do, would they do the picks + value for Lauri? try to overpay for him?

Siakam will be a great fit for them, Is a decent defender, has the spacing with this team, will have Hali creating some looks for him and others. This team's offense will be amazing

Raptor fans have unreasonable expectations. 3 firsts for a half year rental is a good return. Way better than letting him walk like you did Fred.

It is weird that they did it now rather than wait for the trade deadline to see if the offer got better, but maybe they wanted to start the tank early to keep their pick.

but it's not just a rental, we all know this. I'm assuming he resigns with the Pacers at the 4 year max. I'm not saying there wasn't risk, just that the risk wasn't all that high.

One thing that is so interesting about the NBA (because the teams are so small and fragile with only 8 or 9 guys playing) is how adding a player that ends up being the first, second, or third option doesn’t always work out.

The Pacers are top or second best offense in the league.

I look forward to seeing how this works out (if it happens).

If I’m the Pacers, I’m very cautious about adding Siakam.

there's also regular season offense and post season offense. not enough scoring diversity for the pacers when it becomes a half court game.

Agreed. People are going to see how good he really is now that he's surrounded by actually offensive talent. Not having to give up any of their young core is a huge win in my books for Indy

This is what’s up. People make a big deal out of the picks but the team is playing well now, already has quality young role player type guys on cheap contracts and two high upside guys who could blow up down the road. We don’t need the picks at all. Adding Siakam and basically keeping the rotation intact (Brown was solid but there was already a logjam on the wing and we lacked size) is the perfect move.

Any version of this deal that involved Walker or Mathurin was insane to me, two high upside cost controlled guys picked in the top ten! We’ll never replace that with Hali on the team. I also would have hated giving up any of our young depth guys (Nesmith/Nembhard/Smith/Ijax) because our depth has been such a huge strength this season, these guys are all playing well and a big part of the positive team chemistry.

The picks are the ideal price for us, anyone who disagrees doesn’t know the Pacers. This keeps us good now without mortgaging the future (Mathurin/Walker are the future not picks in the 20s)
