Even though Toronto was going to let him walk....a few late first round picks and a couple of role players for a guy that was named all nba a couple years ago is really questionable

Our 2 first round selections can't get playing time so there would be no way we would pick two more rookies and give them playing time. The 26 pick hurts a little bit but I think we can live with that. The only thing that really hurts is the departure of Brucy, but it is what it is. Of course this all changes when Pascal leaves us in the offseason. That makes it from great to horrible, but I guess we have to take these kind of risks with a guy like Hali on the team. You accumulate assets and capspace for scenarios like this. Pritchard set this up pretty great imo. And I really don't see a comparable guy that is available for our picks and some assets..

Pacers gave up 1 rotation player no young guys and 1 legit pick in 2026. For an All nba foward that is most likely resigning

I thought this was a great deal for Toronto until we found out the details of the picks. Now that we have the details, this seems a bit light for Pascal. Good deal for Indy, okay deal for Toronto. I would expect Toronto to flip Brown for another pick which would upgrade this to a win-win for both teams.

At present state, I think this is a fair trade for both teams

Pacers got good value here but the burden of risk that he leaves in FA

Toronto got mediocre value but lots of flexibility for a player that was going to leave anyway and now they have clear direction as a franchise

I think Torontos mistake is more last season than this season. They have historically screwed up moving too late (Lowry kinda, FVV definitely, OG and Siakem a bit)

However they’ve done a good job this year not repeating historical mistakes. Their waiting was a sink cost

Latest proposal I saw from Pacers included Brown, Nwora, and either of Smith/Toppin.

Raptors did not get any of them Mathurin, Walker and Smith. :noway:

if these were the trades (same outgoing and same incoming):

og for brown + nwora + lewis + 3 frps
and
pascal for iq + rj + detroit 2nd

all raptor fans would've loved both deals

If I’m the Bucks, I’m very worried right now. Pacers have had their number this year and now they just got Siakam. Incredible pickup for Indy who I consider a top team in the East now, right up there with Boston.

You mean like Pascal Siakam, who was picked at 27?

DeAndre' Bembry
Malachi Richardson
Ante Žižić
Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot
Brice Johnson
Furkan Korkmaz

Do you know what this list represents? I give you a clue, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, and 26.

You traded them for a borderline all-star talent. Sure you guys improved, but I still think Mil/Bos/Philly/NY are all better.

Also Siakam is a win now player in the middle of his prime. Hali needs a younger running mate.

Late first are not the most valuable assets in the league. Teams sell them for just money.

It is weird that they did it now rather than wait for the trade deadline to see if the offer got better, but maybe they wanted to start the tank early to keep their pick.

but it's not just a rental, we all know this. I'm assuming he resigns with the Pacers at the 4 year max. I'm not saying there wasn't risk, just that the risk wasn't all that high.

2 of the 3 picks we know will be in the 20s (currently 17 and 27)

The Lakers thought they weren’t renting Dwight Howard for one season when they traded for him either. You can’t assume anything. Siakam may very well still leave. Without a contract extension you can’t assume.

No. That doesn’t apply to top 10 players which Dwight was at the time.

It’s different if every team would max said player. Otherwise guys are just taking the highest offer as free agents.

just because Siakam hit, doesn't mean these picks in the 20s are valuable.

The problem isn't the return for Pascal. You can't ask for more than what we got for a guy who is on an expiring deal and won't commit to a team.

The problem is 75% of Raptor fans where saying to trade Pascal last season when he had value. It was obvious his time had come to an end last season.

Let this be a lesson to other teams, this is what happens when you hold your players for too long.

Can't believe people are hung up on those draft picks.

Lottery picks are valuable. The Pacers just traded two picks that will probably be in the 20's in a very bad draft. Heavily protected picks are not all that valuable. OKC has so many that they sold a couple to Denver. The Knicks have a few that they can't even give away.

Casuals see "three first round picks" and lose their minds, without taking the time to research where those picks will actually fall.

Can't believe anyone is questioning this trade from a Pacers perspective. This board is so weird sometimes. Everyone thought the Spurs should go all in with a 19 year old rookie, but the Pacers shouldn't have improved because this "doesn't make them championship contenders" and Siakam "doesn't fit their timeline". WTF? They are like 2 games back from a homecourt first round playoff matchup. The Heat made a Finals run last year, the Hawks made the ECF a few years ago. Anything is possible when you play in a conference with the eternally choking Sixers and Celtics.

They are a lot better now than they were yesterday. They didn't give up a starter or a young piece of the rotation. Just a few picks that will be in the 20's. It's a no-brainer.

I hope Pascal works out really well for Indy. I suspect he'll look awesome next to Haliburton while not having to be the focal scorer/offensive keystone.

Everyone will be clowning IND for this deal for the next few years

Doubt it.

This draft class looks awful. If they bottom out and that 26 pick ends up being good, maybe, but I’m assuming there are some protections on it.

Pascal will fit in nicely with the Pacers, would've been nice to get a prospect but oh well

I think both teams got a fair trade.

Pacers starting 5 is looking solid

Tyrese Haliburton
Buddy Hield
Benedict Mathurin
Pascal Siakam
Miles Turner
