I don't think they'll be going the capspace route. Marc Stein reported it's highly likely George signs an extension this season.

One BIG difference is the contracts! Murray’s contract is reasonable.Lavine’s contract is horrific.
After this year, Murray is owed $115 mil over 4 years. That's pretty bad for the kind of player he is.

LaVine is at $215m over 5 (or is it 4 now?). Either way, that's a $100m extra for a guy you think is in a similar.
It doesn't hit $30M+ until the last year, '27/'28, which is approximately 19% of the cap (equivalent to about $25M this year). I understand the reluctance, but I personally think the contract is pretty reasonable unless he completely ****s the bed.ProcessDoctor wrote:Sixersftw wrote:ProcessDoctor wrote:

Oh yea LaVine definitely has a worse contract. Looks like after this year he's owed $178 mil over 4 years.
I don't think either of them is worth their contract though. Murray at ~$30 mil per year would be another situation of good, but not good enough for this team.

That's what the "~" means.
To be exact, he'll average $28.5 mil over the next 4 seasons *after this season.*
All that to say, he won't be a good enough 3rd best player on a championship team.

He´s an explosive scorer, can handle a bit, has good size( i think he can be a decent defender here) and would be make things way easier to Maxey. Brogdon would be ideal.
Empty stat guys (whether I agree or disagree) can help you win if they're not a top option.
I have watched some hawks games recently. I like him, he's had some explosive games that have carried them to victories, big shots too. I trust the shot, because I know the idea last year was for Trae to play off the ball more and he fought against that. So Murray got in the lab and has made himself a really good off ball threat, and he has a quick trigger and not afraid... The beauty of him is because of his overall abilities the issues that come in the playoffs are lessened... Especially now that Maxey has a green light and isn't afraid, and there isn't a ball stopping choker in Harden or Ben . Teams overload on Joel and he doesn't have Joker like passing, But having another aggressive playmaker that can penetrate and create his shot or others is a big deal. 2 of them is better, especially if Tobi is hanging around too. They should be able to feast on the coverages Joel creates

again because the players we have to offer are washed and our picks are obvious mid...our offers are going to come from desperate teams looking to save money or stupid teams.
The Clippers unprotected pick is worth more than the 3 1st round picks the Pacers traded.

Is it tho?
Yeah their core is old but Balmer has deep ass pockets and will want at least a solid product for his shiny new stadium...I feel like there is a chance that pick is more mid than a lottery pick.
Of course the moment we trade it ...it will be a lock number one overall in a generational draft lol

Morey has his alpha and beta stars already on this team, add a pairing like Murray and Bruce Brown to fill out needed roles while keeping Harris and Melton and Batum and you have a team that can contend with Boston.
