So they're definitely trading for somebody. Who?

I wouldn't be surprised if this is weighing on the group as a whole right now as well. They're still playing hard, but it seems very likely they're aware that anywhere from 1-4 of them could be shipped out at any point in the next month.

This trade wasn't some conspiracy - it was just a GM wanting AD bad enough where in most people's eyes he overpaid by a long shot to get him.

I think he just wants out and will take Orlando if that means getting out from under Trae. Interesting and seemed genuine about it though.

Murray and AJ Griffin for Fultz's expiring, Jett, and two unprotected 1sts?

Dante's play by play is well... talkative and his takes on plays are bad. I don't think Dante really knows basketball whereas Steele does.

I would have to stomach liking Murray but I would be all for this. They have to recoup some picks back based on what they gave the Spurs and this would allow them to clean up their cap a bit. Really like Griffin as a throw in.

Not giving up Jett if we're giving up unprotected 1sts. Pascal didn't land a nice prospect like Jett. While Pascal will be a FA, we know Indy made sure they would be able to resign him.

Did you know...

The last Magic player to average at least 20.0 PPG and 5.0 APG was Steve Francis, 19 years ago.

Siakam netted 3 unprotected firsts and Bruce Brown who is a much better player and potential tradable asset than Fultz would be as the big matching salary.

This would be Jett in place of that third unprotected 1st. And the Magic would be getting back Griffin who is essentially Jett

Acquiring Fultz for Murray doesn't free up that much cap for them. I think they are basically committed to their current group and are looking for a win now player for Murray.

Sure it does. Fultz comes off the books this summer, whereas Murray is locked for next year at about $25M.

So they'd shed $25M off their books in one swoop.

If the Hawks *really* wanted to shed a even more salary, the Magic could potentially take Hunter's contract back ($21.6M next year) and send out more expiring deals like Gary and Chuma.

Jett isn't even a better prospect than AJ Griffin right now

I know you have to give up value to get value but giving up two unprotected firsts is tough to stomach.

I think I'd rather go with Tyus Jones and re-evaluate at that point

Murray and Hunter

for

Fultz, Harris, Jett, two unprotected 1sts

Would shed over $40M immediately off Atlanta's books for next year and reunite Jett with Bufkin.

The 3 1st that Toronto got for Pascal:

2024: two first-rounders – one via Indiana and one via worst of OKC/Utah/ Houston/Clippers

2026: one first-rounder, protected 1-4

1 of those picks is guaranteed to be in the 25-30 range (currently 27). Main value is that 2026 pick but even then, it's top 4 protected and turns into 2 2nds if it doesn't convey.

I still maintain 2 unprotected 1st from us plus expirings should be enough.

Also, I heard that Murray has a large trade kicker that adds ~$3m per to each of his remaining years.

If they don't want it, there are other fishes in the sea.

Fultz has legit lost us 2 games against the Hawks solely just on defense by giving Dejounte easy shots

1st game he came over for the help and left Dejounte wide open from 3

This game he legit had both his hands by his side while he let Dejounte get to his side and start elevating before he even lifted his arms to contest the shot

Creating 25m in cap room isn't really worth it to get rid of an all star guard and getting no other win now pieces in return especially since the cap is projected to be over $140M next year. They aren't exactly a fa destination.

It makes no sense for them

If you look at their salaries they have multiple Ling term guarantees on the roster, they are more or less committed to their current group they want a win now pieces for Murray.

Blaming Mosley feels like the epitome of "missing the forest for the trees"

The front office HAS to make a move man, this is just crazy. Its beginning to border upon basketball malpractice.
