I’m glad it appears to be relatively minor. Seems like one of the better dudes in the league.

Needed to make an all NBA team for that supermax. If he's missing a couple of weeks he'll struggle to get to 65 games.
That's a 55 mil difference if he doesn't.
That's amazing if you a Pacers fans though. Increases the probability of building a contender by an enormous amount if you got a supermax player not able to get a supermax contract, kind of like Warriors with Steph Curry

It's not that great, to be honest. It could develop into a tricky situation actually.
See, due to that change, Haliburton is now incentivized to return from injury as early as possible to make sure he gets the supermax that he deserves. If the team wants to be extra cautious (as they should, Hali is our future) and advises Hali to take as much time as he needs to get healthy, it could be seen as the team trying to cheat him out of the supermax that he has earned.
Now, I do not believe that this is what will actually happen but as Hoop Hunter said, we're taught to expect the worst as Pacer fans

I don't think he's gonna go against his own doctors if they tell him he's not ready. If they clear him he should be fine to return. you are over worrying about it for sure

There is one rule and one rule only when it comes to the Indiana Pacers:
If something can possibly go wrong, it 100% will.

Since he already signed his extension, does the super max apply? Or is it a flexible deal, that automatically jumps up?

Yup, as I called it.
Haliburton is questionable for tomorrow, merely one week after the injury. Timetable was at least two.
Pacers sucked ass in the last two games without him and would have probably lost their next 5 as well(with maybe Portland as a win), very tough schedule coming up.
But that contract situation is definitely in play as well. No way he would've rushed this a year ago.
I hope it doesn't backfire.
I hope he gets the supermax to force the Pacers to not give Pascal his supermax contract unless they don't mind paying the luxury tax for the 1st time.ROballer wrote:Hoop Hunter wrote:xxSnEaKyPxx wrote:There is one rule and one rule only when it comes to the Indiana Pacers:

He needs to win the MVP, defensive player of the year or make an All NBA team for the supermax(260 mil). One of those three. This season.
If he does neither, it's a 205-210 mil contract.
He's basically a lock for an All NBA team, but with the new rules he needs to play in 65 games to be eligible for an award.
