The Wizards are looking to trade Tyus Jones for pick capital. The Suns are looking for a PG but have no picks to trade.
I was wondering if a 3-way deal could be worked out where Tyus goes to Phoenix, Grayson Allen (and a small filler contract) goes out to a 3rd team, and that 3rd team sends a late FRP and expiring contract to Washington.
My question is, do Tyus and Allen have roughly the same value? Both are expiring contracts. Tyus is owed $14M and Allen is owed $8.75M. Or would one of the two teams have to throw in a SRP to equalize the value?
Also, any thoughts on the 3rd team in this scenario? My thought was Philly (who would send out Marcus Morris' expiring contract and a late 2026 FRP (worst of OKC, HOU, LAC).

Pretty similar in value with Jones being the ever-so-slightly better player.

Wouldn't a guy who needs ball in hias hands be the last thing the Suns want?

Re: Trade Value Check: Tyus Jones versus Grayson Allen
Tyus Jones is a good regular season floor general but any team with a shot of doing anything is going to take the ball out of his hands come playoff time to put it in the hands of their elite players. Allen on the other hand is the type of guy you easily fit into a great team's playoff rotation on the wing.
Jones is more likely to draw the interest of mid tier/borderline playoff teams who just need some stability to get in. Allen is more likely to draw the interest of actual contenders. The latter group is generally more desperate so I think he could bring back a bit better trade return than Jones.

Re: Trade Value Check: Tyus Jones versus Grayson Allen
I don't have either worth a first, but I have Allen worth more than Jones, so I see no issues in that regard. As patsfan mentions, he's demonstrated how well he fits around stars. And he's just good enough defensively to keep his shooting on the court.
I agree Allen is really the only trade piece the Suns have, but I wouldn't swap him for a PG like Jones.

I prefer Allen. Much better defensive piece, better movement shooter and off-ball threat in general, I prefer his size and skill-set far more than Tyus Jones if I were a contender.

Re: Trade Value Check: Tyus Jones versus Grayson Allen
Im against any trade that involves these two that isnt putting them on the same team. They're the only 2 left in the NBA from that Duke recruiting class that won the championship (and the two that had the least expectations, since Okafor and Winslow were top 10 picks).
With that said, I think Grayson has the higher value and a 2nd would probably be needed in a straight up trade between the two. Outside of his rookie year he is a very consistent 40% 3pt shooter, with this year taking it to an elite level (48%). He's not a lock down defender, but he plays his ass off on that end and he's an above average defender. Dont get me wrong, Tyus is very solid as well. Just think Grayson's skill set gets him a little higher value.
