National media attention thread

Post#1 » by winforlose » Wed Jan 17, 2024 2:59 pm

I figured we should have a thread for when the national media finally starts to realize that we are #1 for a reason. Saw this on YouTube, discussion about us starts at 38:34.

P.S, the Jazz stuff to start is kinda interesting.

I think most people realize we are No. 1 for a reason....it's just not "fun" to talk about that reason.

TBH I don't think we get the media coverage until we start winning playoff series.

Truth.

You know all these guys who dumped on us for the Gobert trade are just waiting for a Playoff flameout to tell the world "I told you so".

I love how they glossed over the Clips loss to the wolves. But when they beat okc the narrative of them being the best in the west continued.

Why do we need a thread?

Why do you care about the national media talking about us?

Interesting comment from SI today. Basically saying if Wolves go deep into the playoffs and if ownership doesn't go over luxury tax to keep the team, then it's time to look for new ownership ( I know we are used to the Twins but that shouldn't be the standard). They also mentioned that we can go over tax next year and see if we have any success. Dump players in mid season if needed because tax is calculated and paid at the end of the season (end of 24-25 season).

Having suffered through living in that state for five decades, it's a classic MN mentality thing. I don't get it either.

One word. Recognition.

Personally, being is Aus (as you are) I don't care about it, but can understand why someone living locally (i.e. in the US) would.

Also, if someone wants to create a thread to discuss it, it's not that big of a deal. You don't have to read it brother. Just sayin.

National attention equals national notice which increases national merch sales and national tv games. That extra money keeps us competitive.

My biggest take away: "Thus, Gobert's presence in the paint and Edwards' ascension to top scoring option on offense have helped Towns have maximum impact. The big man is free to thrive at what he does best and cover his biggest weaknesses." So Gobert doesn't take away Towns' offense spacing or ability. If we keep feeding the Bear and get a little more offense from JMcD, we may have just enough offense for a deep playoff run.

Wow did Stephen A go over the top. I do however expect Ant to be better in the clutch than Kobe and his 28% clutch shooting.
