They are saying that Nembhard has a thoracic spine sprain, so I would not be shocked to see some of Wong tonight. With all those guys on the injury report this looks like a real tough night. Sabonis is gonna eat them alive. Correction looks like Wong isn't even with them.

They said he practiced with the Mad Ants today. Don't think hes there on the trip. Would be cool to see his debut, but also weird they included him on the injury report.

Pregame TV has Nembhard out so TJ is the only point guard.
Edit: could Jarace get minutes at point???

Next man up 70 Kings 57 at halftime.
TJ McConnell leading scorer with 14 points on 6-8 shooting and 5 assists. Mathurin and Smith with 13. Hield 7 assists. Sheppard doing a bit of everything with two 3 pointers, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, no turnovers.
Isiah Jackson out for rest of the night.

Insane ending. Kings are tough to close out essp with all the missing guys Pacers had but a win is a win. Mathurin is so good, made clutch shots but also played some great defense. Also what a great assist to Turner he had.
But this game was a Jarace Walker coming out party. He struggled in the final 2 minutes when the Kings were full court pressing but besides that the kid took this game over, was making great shots, playing strong defense, and good ball movement. Walker showed tonight, not that the hardcore fans needed to see, why the Pacers were so resilient in trading him. This kid can play.

McConnell double double 20 points and 10 assists
Smith double double 17 points 13 rebounds
Mathurin 25 points
Turner 18 points
Hield 12 points 8 assists
Walker 15 points
Toppin 10 points
Very nice movement on offense and good sharing tonight to create very good offense.

It was interesting to watch Carlisle coach this game. One of his best masterpieces this season. It's only one win, but the night before Siakam joins, the game Walker and Sheppard had, and for coach Carlisle, i really was on the edge of my seat hoping theyd pull this one out.
Pacers played without a true PG for a good portion of this game playing PG by committee with Hield, Sheppard and Mathurin splitting duties as primary ball carriers.
Also the Pacers essentially closed out the game with 5 guards. Although, that almost bit them in the end but Carlisle stayed with it.
Lots of good moments in this game but one thing that won't be as talked about is the clutch rebound and free throws that followed by Jalen Smith to close out the game.

Walker and Sheppard both are very talented offensively. Due to the Pacers depth they have the luxury to strategically develop these rookies slowly to hone their NBA game skills. Some teams throw players into the fire early and bad habits or attitudes can develop.
The Pacers are stressing defensive skills up and down the roster and once the rookies start making a difference they will gain more minutes. Just like Mathurin and Nembhard are developing in their second season I trust the rookies will also.
The Pacers have a very layered roster of talent currently in terms of development.
McConnell, Turner, Hield, Siakam, Haliburton who are top tier players.
Nesmith, Smith, Toppin, and Jackson who have been learning for a few years now.
Mathurin and Nembhard in their second season.
Sheppard and Walker as rookies.

Wow! Wonder how long he's been dealing with this?.... Cause the lack of flexibility in the upper to mid back and/or pain, would exactly explain the difference in his play between last year & the down part of this year? Not the kind of thing that would absolutely stop you from playing,.. but also, the kind of thing that takes a bit of time to heal, cause you use that are so much.
sending prayers for some healing & relief! =]

I didn't stay up to watch, but what a nice surprise win, being an away game with so many players held out. Looking at the box score, my worry becomes the number of minutes played by some of the guys, considering we have to turn around and play in Portland tonight.
Still, all told, a very good win.

Loved the ball movement at the start of the game. It was the ball movement that kept their defense honest,.. and allowed TJ to get into the paint, almost at will. The early passing was simply phenomenal.
There was one play in the first half, where we stymied a Kings ball handler, just below the free throw line. Couldn't go right or left,.. settled for a contested fall-away. Excellent basic, one on one defense,.. had to stop & look,.. it was Sheppard. He still breaks scheme on occasion (like Jarace), but when these 2 are as good in the team defense as they are at individual defense,... well,. we won't be 28th in D-rating any more, that's for certain.
Wasn't as impressed with the ball movement at the end of the game?... Lots of full on, ISO style attacks to the rim,.. but where the team had been kicking out, or cutting into layups earlier,.. it seemed like it was more of a 1 driver on 4 exhausted defenders attack. Still,.. impressed with the effort top to bottom,.. starting whistle to end,.. was something to be proud of win or lose.
Was also impressed with the individual skills on display, the development as a team to keep the foot on the pedal and keep executing even with Ty out, and the coaching to set up the game plan and take advantage of the opportunities in game. For me,.. this was a game to be proud of our team. This was a victory they earned.
