Re: What to do with Bruce Brown
I think I'd prefer to keep Brown. What would we really get for him? At best, another late 1st round pick from a contender? Do we really need that now that we've got 5 of them over the next 3 years (plus the 31st pick this year)?
On the other hand, what the team does need is competent players around Scottie, RJ, and Quickley who work hard, know their roles, and don't make many mistakes. Developing teams especially need guys like that. It doesn't do Scottie any favours in his development if his great passes are getting constantly fumbled out of bounds or guys aren't cutting to the right places or not making the right swing passes and taking away the advantages he creates.

Yes Brown always have amazing attitude, and he never fails to deliver his 110% , literally I never saw Brown underachieve on the Nets , he might be limited in some aspects but he is the dog , fighter , hustler , very likeable player as well
Give him a few games to acclimate, he can do it all and will surprise you more often than not , positively
When KD tried to date Lana Rhoades and bring a backup date...KD and Lana didn't work out.
Bruce Brown put a baby in her.Bro NEVER underachieves.
I don’t know if this is true , but he had some beef with KD ( that’s true )
Basketball wise he was loved in Brooklyn, I can see him becoming fan favorite in Toronto as well if you keep him
There is a myth that he got easy job in Denver due to Jokic , it’s false , he was amazing in Brooklyn already , but due to KD beef Marks ( our GM ) never offered him an extension
Watch Bruce to step a level higher against Brooklyn and score 40 and I’ll root for this to happen

Whenever it happens, he needs to be traded for some kind of long term asset - a pick, a rookie contract player or bundled for a bigger piece. He is an excellent, championship caliber role player and a total luxury at this juncture. These are the hard decisions Masai needs to make if he’s serious about being patient and building for the future. Get worse now to accumulate assets for later.

Ya, he set a pick and rolled and Scottie dumped over the soft double to him and he finished at the rim.

I would trade Trent, Boucher and Schroder first, that might get late 1st picks, before I let go of Brown.
Really Brown and Johntay should be 6/7 on the depth chart and this team will be on fire.

yeah i mean we got a bunch of posters defending trent in the other thread and if you'd never seen the raptors before, you'd think he was the newcomer, not brown.
he just found ways of making himself useful.
efficient, utilitarian. makes a little more than he's worth maybe but we have no cap space issues next year.

Then whats the point? Might as well keep him.
trade him for a better player; only one i see now is murray but not sure what hawks would want in return

don't need any more late picks in this draft.
hell i wouldn't doubt if our 31st pick was more valuable than our 27th with multiple teams in 20-30 to want to trade out because of the poor quality prospects in this draft.

I thought thats what Thad, OPJ, Temple were all supposed to do? the team was a bust with them, vets are over-rated at times. I don't have an issue with keeping him but I doubt he's a big influence on anyone.

We should be asking for 2025 or 2026 picks in any other trades. No more 2024 picks

thad and temple are just aged out; porter would've been great if healthy.
brown is younger, smart and has been a great role player for a championship team and developing teams alike.
not untradeable, but no need to give him away either.

Masai if you are reading this, here is a tip
Bruce Brown is the typical quality vet Detroit would overpay to shed the reputation of perennial loser, and they just happen to have a 20M expiring as salary ballast in Joe Harris, who plays about 10 mins a game.

Trade him for the 1st and regroup next off-season with ample assets.

Multiple teams will offer a 1st for him, but we probably keep him tbh
I think he’s being kept you don’t pay for a number without reassurances that you are staying
Maybe I’m wrong but guess we’ll see.
