Don't get too attached to him. I think he only has another year, so we may have no choice to trade him.
I doubt he wants to part of a developing team and I'm sure he's looking to get paid.

Re: What to do with Bruce Brown
Unless we get a good pick (guaranteed to be top 20), i don't think we should move him. He's a solid vet on a fair deal, on a team option next year. His team option guarantee date in June 29 so he's still a valuable trade asset on draft night.

Re: What to do with Bruce Brown
Knicks are interested, gotta go back to the old faithful trading partner
2019 Eastern Conference All Stars
Derozan
Lowry
Ibaka
Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid
There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

I'd keep him, he's a nice connector piece. I can understand if the pick we're getting back is good though, not a late first.

I want a haul. We better not just softball a perfect championship-contending role player away. Call me petty, but I'd rather not just give him for peanuts.

Re: What to do with Bruce Brown
I can see why so many playoff teams want this guy.
You don't always see a guy who walks into a new locker room, goes +11 with 15pts 7reb and closes a game for us from the bench.
That's going to cost teams more than a late 1st or a boatload of 2nds
Otherwise keep him.

I believe more can come back but yeah just Brown unless they did a 3(well 4 way) trade.
Somebody can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the way teams get around it is by doing components of the trade separately that each fit under the CBA. Then it is announced as combined.
For example:
1) Bruce Brown for Joe Harris'
2) Gary Trent for Wiseman, Thompson
Are the Pistons this down on Thompson?
Furthermore with all the cap space they can get guys like Trent for free.

Re: What to do with Bruce Brown
if Bruce gets an elevated role with us here, we can really inflate his value before the deadline in the next couple weeks. Or just keep him. Either work. He's great.

True.
After the trade deadline he only has trade value if the team option is picked up though.

We keep him. There's so much BBQ can learn from this guy. He's an absolute winner
Edit: Some are saying we have too many vets on this team in the ilk of Denis, Thad and Boucher....Brown is not only better than all of them he acts as a perfect POA defender which allows Scottie to go back to roaming and playing defense in his best possible form. Not to mention the culture add. We need Scottie to not only have smart vets around him off court but ones that are competent and smart on court.

He's also the prototype for getting the most out of his potential as a mid-1st round pick. He seems to have good body language on the court. Many times you can see Boucher make brain farts and pout when not getting calls. Trent also seems down when things aren't rolling.
Bruce and Johntay seem like they could be rotational players on a championship team.

i watched the game.....there are a lot of things he does that doesn't show up on the scoresheet.....
his best position is SG
i agree i would prefer to keep Brown over Denis, Boucher and Trent Jr

Keep him.
There is only one ball, and we have 3 guys who need the ball. Brown doesn’t need the ball, and does all the little things.
When Siakam was here, we had 4 guys who needed the ball, and that doesn’t work.

True but you will lose cap space
Asset management would be to trade Brown for expiring + picks
Then use the cap space available
We need to accumulate as much asset as possible and aggregate in a future blockbuster IMO
Picks are very valuable but it’s the only asset that does not count toward the cap /luxury tax.
We need draft capital if we want to surround BBQ with some talent .

Re: What to do with Bruce Brown
It all depends on what else we can do during the deadline. He fills a position of need after OG's departure and if Masai can flip some of the other expiring contracts for immediate help, I can see us getting somewhat serious about a deeper playoff run for next year. However, if we are going the draft route, we are better off extracting value now and speed up that side of the process.
If you ask me, Barnes does not need so many years for development, so the faster we can retool/rebuild, the better it is. In that way, I'd rather package the expiring vets and whatnot for more roster depth and keep Brown.

Don't get too infatuated with players especially role players when we're not close to contending for the playoffs let alone a championship

Re: What to do with Bruce Brown
I was at the game last night. He brings a different dimension that I would value. I would keep him.
Pick up his contract. I would move low IQ or one dimensional players first. Meaning bye bye GTJ and Boucher. Problem we need big bodies. Denis? He would be tough to move also. I like him off the bench also. To move brown and Denis I would want something of immediate value
