The only thing worse than a Lavine trade this summer (and basically having his insane deal tattooed on ORL for better or worse (it could actually work-but quite a risky bet)) would be for the FO to sit right on their thumbs again and do nothing.

In: Collin Sexton
Out: Wendell Carter Jr / Caleb Houston

Sexton has been pretty underrated for a while now, because he's a score first PG, but I think he could really be a great fit here. He's 25 years old which makes him both a fit for our young core timeline and also experienced enough to be a settling veteran presence. His shooting/scoring punch would bring more harmony to our offense and take our team to a new level, imo.

Unloading Houston would also open up playing time for Jett.

C'mon Weltman. Don't let the Lakers get Sexton!

What needs of ours does he meet? Where does he sit in the rotation?

One more "nice" player on a roster full of them, he'd be our highest paid guy too :noway:

He's Caruso's brother from another mother. Great add for a contender fleshing out their lineup...we need a building block.

He replaces Fultz/Black as the veteran connector/defender/playmaker who can actually shoot the 3 and space out the floor for the second unit whilst also being able to fit perfectly next to Franz and Paolo in any lineup.

He'd be the hybrid 6th man with Cole who can legit play 4-5 positions on the court. That would be a HUGE get.

LaVine is off the books before Paolo is making 40+ though.

Let me add that the second the ink dried, I'd be rooting for Lavine...just doesn't feel like a responsible trade, given his unbelievable contract, history of lax defense and lack of making others around him better-maybe the opposite.

Listening to Chad Lowe talk about MIN's defense makes me give more consideration to continuing to prioritize that. The one guy in our lineup of discussed possibilities that would allow us to maintain AB-level on-ball defense AND up our perimeter offense significantly is Murray. His defense has slipped a bit, but he's young and he's playing on a team that doesn't appear to be interested in defense. Playing intense defense like Suggs is contagious and so is slacking. I think he could lock guys down whenever he wants, and with ORL that would once again be a priority from the top down...He really seems like a great fit.

I also have to believe that Mose would really really love an elite defensive Center to anchor his team defense. Even two elite guards can only do so much without that fearsome rim-protector behind them. Murray at TD, Claxton this summer  dream scenario, top 3 defense in the league and offense moving up with Murray's addition, Suggs' continued growth and Jett entering the picture.

don't think Sexton is going anywhere, he is the engine for the Jazz right now and playing very well. Jazz have no use for Carter either with Collins, Kessler and Olynk.

When can we extend Paolo? Then what about Franz and Suggs? They would be the same year. That's my issue with the Lavine thing. I dont want to do anything that harms our ability to resign our core guys. Lavines contract is just breathtaking.

I'd plug him into the bench 2/3 role and start AB and Suggs.

The Guard rotation of AB, Suggs, Cole, and Brown is very attractive.

This is exactly why it works. We have a 3rd option while we ramp up playoff contention and then can immediately pivot to retooling around our core for our championship run. It works really nicely actually.

I thought about Murray some more and i think dont want him. Character is important, but for PG its crucial. Murray is so insecure. Changed my mind. We can manage someone like Lavine a lot better. I am also becoming higher on Rozier.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

Exactly, by that time Jett would have taken his spot anyway
Suggs, AB, Tyus, Jase
Bane, AB, TDS , Jett
Franz, TDS, Panda
P5, JI, Panda, Moe

I would be beyond frustrated if Murray goes for this cheap of a price and the Magic don't even make an offer.

Paolo can agree to an extension after next season, but it won't kick in until year 5, which would be the last year of LaVine's deal if he picks up his option.

Hawks likely tell them take out Dlo and give us Reaves.

can you imagine Trae and Dlo playing together that would be comedy

Trae and Austin on defense would be even funnier
