Re: What to do with Bruce Brown
We could also use him to pick up questionable salary for 24/25 -- I'm not sure there is much we can do in FA with the cap room we will have.
Listening to a podcast yesterday, apparently there are some teams out there that are very concerned about the new luxury tax implications starting next year. For a contender Brown might make sense since he will help now, and then they can assess whether they want to keep him or not given their tax situation.
Putting a framework out there
Brown for a Salary Dump (ending in 24/25) + 2025 or 2026 1st +2nd's.

He specifically wanted his number from Porter didnt he? He would have taken any number if management gave him indication that they're potentially interested in flipping him to a contender

To go to a contender this spring, I think Brown would just laugh off the 10 grand he gave Porter.

we have other expirings to function as a salary dump.
brown can actually play; he has more value.

Toronto fanbase tends to fall in love very deeply, very quickly.
Brown's a damn good role player. But he's a role player and right now we're looking for future pieces. He's has a TO option on his deal and contenders will like that flexibility.
He should be moved by the trade deadline.

Good chance Brown is here to stay. He was heavily scouted by Darko because he is one of the best cutters in the league. Darko may have had a hand in wanting Brown back in the Siakam trade.

Watch Bruce Brown postgame, he talked about it. Since he knew MPJ, asked him for his brother permission. 10k, said he's fine, he's paid well

I rewatched the highlight, 4Q brown set at least 4 screens for Barnes. Bruce has a great way to keep his eye contact when he rolls and being in the right space. Being small actually helps me as the defense collapse on Barnes and have a hard time locating Brown haha

Ringer guys make a lot of sense. Even if Brown fits with Scottie and the play style, does he fit on court with RJ and Poeltl?
Can we have two 6'5ish players on court at the same time who both cannot shoot at a high clip? It is an interesting question about spacing. We have 20 days to see how it all fits. Brown, without a doubt is our best tradeable asset right now.

Re: What to do with Bruce Brown
I think Brown’s value is way higher to a playoff team especially those looking to work around the tax, 2nd apron next year then to the Raptors. He is also kind of a bad fit with Barrett. I feel fairly confident we get a very good return for him
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?
Please advise….

minnesota won't keep brown because of their salary issues and if all they need is salary filler, might as well give them expirings.

they would use brown this year in the playoffs. they would be swapping one rotation guy (naz) for a playoff wing rotation guy (brown).

their salary issues still remain. right now, they won't even be able to re-sign conley for next year.
its not a lasting solution for them. also was looking at reid's contract; he will opt out in the summer of 2025. so its just a one year benefit for us.
i think expirings plus a pick is still the best bet to get reid.

I think they need Gary more than Brown. Scoring is a problem for Minny (ORtg 19th), not defence (DRtg 1st)

bigger problem is what they do with trent/brown in the summer if they can't re-sign him.
best bet for now would be just keep chugging away and deal with the problem in the summer.

They’d let them go to give themselves breathing room under the tax.

Re: What to do with Bruce Brown
Who can Lakers give us? If they have one, I’d push for a future FRP since they’re gonna suck when LeBron retires. I just pray Masai doesn’t take back useless vets and then we’re stuck holding the bag (eg Dragic, Thad, Birch, etc).
