Knicks Interested In Jordan Clarkson

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Jan 19, 2024 6:39 am

The New York Knicks have registered interest in Jordan Clarkson, sources told Marc Stein of Substack.

The Knicks are also rumored to be interested in Bruce Brown, and have previously been linked with Malcolm Brogdon, Terry Rozier, and Alec Burks.

The team is looking for another ballhandler alongside Jalen Brunson.

The Knicks are also reportedly actively seeking offers for Quentin Grimes

Clarkson is 31 on an expiring contract.

Intriguing option would be Keldon Johson from SAS ( younger, good scorer / rebounder / playmaker, on a long term reasonable contract & can ply multiple positions ) -- was demoted to the bench by SAS.

Very good. Hope they go after and get him AND Dunn. That would be perfect in so many ways.

Clarkson had signed a 2 year extension so will make $14.1 mill in 2024-25 and $14.3 mill in 2025-26.

Solid bench scorers are always in demand, the problem is that they don't command a lot in return and often end up being more valuable to the team they are on than the return they would get.
Kind of like how the Pistons couldn't turn a 33 year old Bogdanovic into anything worthwhile last season, he was more valuable as a veteran leader on a young team than the offers they were getting for him.
Utah doesn't seem like they are going to trade anyone unless the deal is heavily in their favor and I just don't see that happening with Clarkson unless a contender thinks he's the piece that will push them over the top and overpay.

Hard pass.

Clarkson would be an upgrade over IQ on the Knicks bench. How is that a hard pass?

They still need a better backup center than Achiuwa (unless Mitch miraculously comes back) but Hart and Clarkson off the bench gives them a heavy top 7 rotation that makes them a legit #4 seed
