Thoughts? Seems a bit much but we're desperate for a guard.
I'd do it in a second...in fact, I think it could be light (because I really like re-uniting Griffin & Paolo). Murray is really good and he's one of the VERY few guys that could maintain the defensive side that Mose obviously demands (exhibit: AB playing despite zero offense, Jett in G-league despite ORL being among worst 3pt teams in NBA) while moving our offense to another level. His contract is fine, we'd still have expiring and available non-guaranteed money if we want to go nuts this summer.
IQ would have been best available fit because he's younger - but reality is that Murray is bigger, more proven version of what IQ might be...I guess there are personality questions, but the "Beef with Paolo" thing is less than nothing...it never was and it certainly isn't now. They hugged and talked after games as well as publicly "squashing the beef" (hate that I even said that

). This (above) is a really good trade for ORL. I think it's a bit light for POR. I'd hope to cut them out and just give ATL two ORL firsts AND WCJ and Harris for Murray and Griffin...honestly, I'd even add a batch of srps or even DEN frp to get it done.
The vision of moving WCJ, Harris and future children we don't need for Murray & Griffin and still having enough summer dough to get Claxton on a slight overpay on a front-loaded, descending deal around $22m avg. is really intriguing. If we're willing to spend - ORL could be as appealing a fit and opportunity as any in the league for Claxton this summer. I like Ingles a lot, but would be willing to not re-up him if the right opportunity appeared and his salary could have better long-term use...same has to be considered with Isaac's deal, if his reliability doesn't really take a jump upward...we have a lot of options and could, creatively, get really good quickly without getting into the dreaded tax aprons when Paolo's (and Franz' and Suggs') extensions hit.
Trade for Murray & Griffin now. Clear out the bad or unreliable deals for cap space. Sign Claxton & Kyle Anderson (bigger, healthier version of Ingles) & Goga (if reasonable deal) to descending deals this summer...
Murray/Cole Anthony/McClung?
Suggs/Jett/Queen or Kevon?
Franz/Griffin/Houstan
Paolo/Kyle Anderson
Claxton/Goga/M. Wagner...THIS is a well-designed, financially sensible team that could make playoff noise right away.
