Game 42: Bucks at Pistons - 1/20/24 - 2:00 - BSWI

Post#1 » by MickeyDavis » Fri Jan 19, 2024 7:12 pm

Not normally a fan of afternoon games but no overlap with the Packers is good. And only a slight overlap with the early game.

Pistons are 1-8 since ending their losing streak.

First of 2 (Monday at Detroit).

We've beat them twice at home. A 2 point win (Giannis ejected) and a 32 point win (Bucks pounded them early, Dame with 33 in 29 minutes).

AG isn't getting fired mid season so rooting for a loss seems pointless. Hopefully take care of business early.

The Bucks initial injury report will come out later this afternoon, currently no word on Giannis' availability.

Go Bucks
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Back-to-back losses to Detroit would absolutely get Grief canned.

It wouldn't, that ship sailed with the Bos, GSW and Sac wins despite those being schedule and injury wins.

IDK, Detroit is Process Sixer level bad and 2 in row against them would cause a riot on here

Yeah I think losing twice to the pistons would do it. But for that to happen they would have to obviously tank it to levels where I would lose respect for both Giannis and Dame. As much as I hate grief as our coach, I can't root for that.

Agreed.

It would be bizarre for a team second in the east only 3.5 games out of first and 3rd overall in the league to fire their coach after a 2 game slip to a crappy team.

Grief sucks but no one will justify firing him with his current record. They would have to drop into the play in for it to be considered and the bucks can finish a 4th/5th seed easily because of their star power.

You could put a coffee machine as hc and this group would still be a playoff team.

Grief is gone the day after they get ass kicked early in the playoffs.

I like the way you espresso things.

I don't think an early playoff loss necessarily dooms him. It depends on how things happen. Certainly an early playoff loss is the reason he's here, so that would be symmetrical, though.

And whether this team is coached by a coffee machine, a cardboard cutout of Dr. James Naismith, or a sock puppet, I agree that its achievements would not vary that much. The "please please get him fired" brigade vastly overestimates the impact of coaching in the NBA and get themselves all worked up over very little. This is a players' league and an improvisational sport, and the guy standing with his arms folded on the sidelines is mostly an interested bystander.
