Re: Celts Can't Dip The Nuggets! Loss vs DEN 1/19
Only fair to give Joe 2 seasons, this season and next season.
If the Cs still have not hung Banner 18 by 2025, I also want Joe out.
Remember, this is not the same team from last season.
If this were the same team then the result would most likely be the same.
But this is an upgraded Celtics team.
April is 3 months away.

Not the reason we lost, but... Hauser took 1 shot in 16 minutes of play. Can't play him and just have him as a spacer. Especially when your stars couldn't shoot for ****.
It's annoying how the bench gets blamed for not scoring enough and wants to be replaced when this is happening.

What's funny is there are already posters here saying JT is the next Carmelo Anthony.
I tell you guys, JT will make you eat crow!

I'm sure a non-Celtics fan enjoyed that game. You have to ask them lol.

I've been on this all year. Sam is a killer weapon if Joe would actually run something for him.

He's already better than Melo ever was. It's a dumb take.

Yep, he's not on the level of Lebron/Jokic/Steph but JT has a more complete all-around game and impacts winning more than Melo (still a better scorer though).

Lebron won his first championship at the age of 27.
MJ got his first ring at the age of 28.
And KD, at age 29, only got a ring when he joined forces with Curry.
If JT wins a chip this year then he will just be 26 years old.
There will be a number of Celtic fans who will feel silly for doubting Tatum.

Murray cooked anyone we put on him -- 2/2 vs. Pritchard, 3/3 vs. Holiday, 3/3 vs. Tatum, 4/5 vs. Brown...
0/1 vs. White but DWhite mostly covered MPJ.

Jokic was cheating all night. But this was absurd. It's unfair when your superstar can process the game like it's in slow motion.
Also the reason why you can't really double him. Double-teams don't really bother him unless maybe if second guy is another big?

Him and Jokic both have extremely good touch on their shots, from all over the floor.
They both hit some tough, contested jumpers..
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

Jokic is a good defender. Not sure if that’s a hot take or not but there it is.

Same one.
Denver offense was ISO’s by Murray and Jokic down the stretch. No special sets. The difference is they have a clear superstar in Jokic and we don’t. Tatum miss 2 layups down the stretch.
Malone doesn't have to be special in these situations BECAUSE he has Jokic. We don't. So we have to find ways to gain an advantage. Brad did his part by raising the level of talent around JT/JB. Joe has to do better with the talent he has. Just mix it up. Everyone and their mothers know the ball is going to Tatum eventually. Easier to defend against when you know what's coming.
They got good shots down the stretch except the last possession. Your stars cannot be missing layups and free throws in clutch time. This boils down to the Jays if they need everything to be perfect (Supporting Cast,Coaching) we are screwed.

From what I saw this season, KP is no match for Giannis, Embiid, and now Jokic.
Cs need Al to defend those 3 bigs.
Not a surprise considering KP was never known for being a great defender.
Brad should really consider acquiring another big man in case Horford gets hurt in the playoffs.
KP is just not good enough on defense against the elite bigs.
This game showed what I've been saying for years. That's Tatum and Brown aren't clutch.
KP wasn't know as a great defender, you already know that but your making that a focal point? KP can't defend against elite bigs like Jokic, Giannis and Embiid? No one can defend elite players, that's why they are elite.
That's coaching, not on KP. With elite players, you throw different looks at them, double team them. That didn't happen much.
Horford was solid on Jokic. As much as people trashed Grant Williams, Grant was more than solid guarding Jokic.
We have one player on this team that I believe is the best option at somewhat guarding Giannis and Jokic and that guy is Lamar Stevens. Yet game after game, Joe doesn't go to him because he is in love with Hauser. Brissett would have been a bigger factor in this game than Hauser. But to me, Stevens is the key to somewhat slowing down Jokic and Giannis, much like Grant was.

They are a great duo, Jokic and Murray. They complement each other so well. Each is what the other one is not, and they know each other so well, after so many years of playing together. Last year they didn’t even sweat in the playoffs (maybe against the Suns, a little bit).

You know what's awesome. A head coach that has 5 options and chooses 2 of them at most nearly 100% of the time on the biggest plays. Worst coach in the NBA out of timeout plays...well when he actually calls one and runs his only play. The get the get the ball to Tatum and figure it out fade away or step back hot garbage.

Jokic last season against the Celtics:
29-8-3 on .666 TS%
30-12-12 on .908 TS%
Jokic did poorly against us in 2021-22 season but that was the season when everybody on the Nuggets was injured and Jokic was playing with Jeff Green, Bones Hyland and Wil Barton as starters.
As for the idea that Lamar Stevens will fix our #2 ranked defense, guess who this player is from the photo:

The better comp for Tatum would be Harden/Westbrook/Melo.

You know, we could probably catch a team completely off guard when it matters most if we actually ran a good play for someone else. Like white for example. Probably get a wide open layup or something because nobody would be expecting us to be that smart.

I hoped Jrue would fix the crunch time issues. That obviously hasn't happened and isn't going to happen.
The only hope at this point is Joe telling the team (Tatum) that White will now be initiating the crunch time offense. Absent that happening (and I'm not confident it will), this team is not making it out of the East, never mind the Finals.
The silver lining is I think ownership forces Brad to fire Joe if there is no Finals appearance. An average NBA coach will improve this team immediately.
