The OG trade pumped me up but then seeing the return for the Siakam trade killed my excitement. I honestly expected to see at least 1 or maybe 2 of Indiana's prospects.

Masai needs to do something either at the deadline or in free agency to make me feel otherwise. I'm still going to watch because I'm a basketball junkie but I feel a lot more negative at the moment.

At least Jelani McCoy isn't starting. Milt Palacio wants some burn with Will Solomon coming off the bench. This raps team has upside, just got to be patient

I am more excited about this BBQ core than the failed Siakim-OG-FVV core. I would be even more excited if Masai pulled off even more trades involving Poeltl, GTj and Brown to acquire more picks and youth. Even if it means taking on a bad contract.

After the OG trade the team became watchable for me for the first time in a while.
Its also nice that Barrett is signed for three more seasons and IQ and Barnes pending free agencies are restricted which at least secures some degree of direction.

For a first time in a while I am not dreading the next move.

I agree with this, but man it's so sad that this is what our expectations have been lowered to. "I'm just confident they won't completely **** the bed with their next move, cause they've already shipped out anything of value" lol.

It's crazy how we went from "Masai fleeces everyone" to this. Hopefully he can get his mojo back, or we can find someone who can.

I want Masai to return to that aggressive young hungry GM and finish the job. There is many moves needed yet, he needs to be super aggressive for me to be even some what excited at this point.

If he crawls back under the rock he’s been under for the last several years I’ll be disappointed and will be moving more towards it’s time for a new era with a new GM

The whole, we made a few trades and now want to evaluate and give them a chance BS has to stop, this team isn’t good and it’s not setup for future success at all. Thus for me he needs to be ultra super aggressive .

And Barnes is a Chameleon, He can Blend into any situation, on both sides of the ball.

A lot of Scouts, Coaches, Media, Fans etc, can't place him, or want him to focus on a "bigger man" role, and that's what frustrates them.

Agreed. I got to see superstar Vince CARTER nightly from my season ticket seats.... and the championship year.... those two experiences won't re appear anytime soon again.... and now I live in Europe, so life goes on!

My excitement was an A after the OG trade mainly because I love watching RJ Barrett play but after seeing the Pascal trade return im down to like a B. Im fine with not getting Walker and Mathurin since that might be too high an asking price but not even one of Nesmith or Nembard? Bruce Brown already 27 years old and doesn’t fit Scottie/RJ/IQ timeline and a subpar 3 point shooter. Masai not done yet so we’ll see come February

at the end of the day, we got a chip and we have had one of the best regular teams over the past decade. while the FO is guilty of holding on a bit too tight, they are heading in the right direction and i believe we have the most important piece of the rebuild already in barnes.
all in all, despite a tough couple of years of watching we are already on the way back up imo.

imagine being a fan of 90% of the other NBA teams. **** even being a leafs fan has been 1000x worse than this.

So many posts here are so premature prior to the deadline. But I am not shocked at the lack of foresight.

There's only one real UFA left in GTJ and it isn't pressing he be traded or the end of the world if he isn't. Beyond that there's no immediate moves that have to be made, but about 2 that might be better made now.

A Scottie jump to consistent all-nba, and one of IQ/RJ making an all-star jump immediately puts this team back in the thick of the playoff hunt in the east. Contenders? No. But you should enter every season with the expectations that HCA is obtainable.

Funnily enough - I think we need to find another wing now to replace the departure of OG and Siakam. The best teams in the league all have the versatility to play big and small - and we really lost our small ball ability now as 5 of our best 7 are guards in IQ / Schroder / Brown / GTJ / RJ.

Some people will look at the fact that we have half a dozen or so vets (that are mostly 30+ years old) and say we're not a young team, but we're clearly in a transitional period right now. Scottie, Quickley and Barrett at 24 or younger with other pieces like Gradey (20) and the two-way players (Porter especially at 24 is a potential piece moving forward) as well as a bunch of draft picks and some salary cap wiggle room in our back pocket bodes well for the future. Schroder, Boucher, OPJ and Poeltl are all candidates to be moved to playoff teams at the deadline in exchange for even more assets while someone like GTJ still has potential with this core or as a trade piece.

It hurts to see all of the old guard slowly but surely leaving Toronto leading to us now having no real link to the We the North / Championship days, but I think the future is bright. I don't anticipate us making a playoff push this season (though I'd be thrilled if we turned things around and got some more experience), but I fully expect us to be winning ~50 games by 24/25 or 25/26.

I’ll take the under on 50 games next season.
