Re: Fantasy Trade Thread
Deal 1:
LAC 28 1st, Springer, Korkmaz for Alex Caruso
Bulls get a quality pick and a middling prospect for their trash team.
Sixers get an elite role player that fits perfectly with Maxey in the backcourt.
Deal 2:
DeAnthony Melton and Robert Covington for Bogdan Bogdanovic
The Hawks get a quality backcourt fit next to Trae in Melton, as a low usage guy that can defend both guard positions and make catch and shoot 3s. I'm assuming Dejounte ends up elsewhere.
The Sixers get a shooter that can either come off the bench or play with the starters as a 3rd/4th option. I like Melton, but he becomes redundant with Caruso and Beverley on the roster.
Tyrese Maxey | Pat Beverley
Alex Caruso | Bogdan Bogdanovic
Tobias Harris | Kelly Oubre
Nic Batum | Marcus Morris
Joel Embiid | Paul Reed
I think these deals address our biggest needs: a bench guard that can create a bit and step in as a complimentary 3rd option, and a defender that can match up with elite perimeter options.
But what about the rebounding? I think having Caruso's perimeter defense means less help from your bigs, putting them in better position to rebound the ball.

Tobias Harris
Jaden Springer
for
Bojan Bogdanovic
Alec Burks
Isaiah Stewart
Bojan and Alec give the Sixers two veteran sharpshooters with tremendous size on the wing that can open up the floor and maximize Embiid and Maxey.
Beef Stew gives the Sixers a true PF that can rebound, block shots, and stretch the floor and hit threes. Helps us matachup better with the bigger playoff teams like Milwaukee and Cleveland.

I like the players acquired, but I think compensation isn't right for each. Too much for Caruso. Not nearly enough for Bogdanovic. That Clippers pick. is something you save for a star, not a role player. The 76ers have other picks that could go in that package. That Clippers pick would probably be needed in order to get Bogdanovic, really.

With that roster, why would you start him? They don't even start him in Atlanta?
You stated that you disagreed with a poster that this team would be undersized and overmatched on rebounds.
Sixers playoff Rotation:
Embiid
Harris
Bogdanovich
Murray
Maxey
Melton
Beverley
Oubre
Capela
Bogs is starting in that lineup. Who would you put in to move him to his ideal 6th man?
They would be undersized. You'd perpetually be throwing out 3 guard lineups and would be playing Harris and Oubre as your 4s. You'd be much better off including Melton in the original deal and keeping Batum.
The trade you proposed doesn't work salary-wise regardless. No idea why you included Capella as a 20 million dollar guy that can't be on the floor with your best player.
This wasn’t my trade: I agree with Ben I believe it was that said this team will get killed defensively and on the boards. Moving Bogs to the bench and starting Oubre would not solve the rebounding issue. Murray isn’t going to make a top rebounding team just from his presence. I’m not moving Batum if I’m not getting a starting caliber PF in exchange. I’m not moving Harris unless I get a starting caliber wing in exchange. U want expirings? I have House, Covington, Korkmaz and Morris I would like to keep. I don’t know why so many hate Morris.

Wasn't my trade either, so I don't know about the salary matching, and I wouldn't let batum go. He's expiring and I don't see where either of those teams need him.
But if he were gone, that would still be an elite team. Maybe the best, most dynamic offense in the league. Length and versatily defensively with Oubre (size) or even Melton and the biggest dude in the league at center. Plus, while again it's overkill. You have a legit starting center off your bench, that you could actually put in the dunker spot with Joel and kill the offensive boards, or pick & roll with away from Joel's gravity on the other side of the floor.
That team could match up with any style or any team and it's not gonna happen, but this is a fantasy thread

Murray will end up with the Lakers. You can pretty much put that down as a lock.

I don't know why either. People are so willing to throw him into a package. Batum, Morris and Beverly are untouchable in any trade, if it were up to me. After that, ANY player not named Embiid and Maxey can be had.

I've seen multiple 1sts tossed around as the asking price for Caruso. He's a role player, but an elite one, and has an easily matchable contract with an additional cheap year. The market for him is going to be a large one.
If it can get done for a different 1st (maybe like best of our 26 1sts?), absolutely do that.
As for Bogdanovic, I think he's worth expirings and a pick. Maybe I'm just overrating Melton's value. I think he'd be a great long-term fit next to Trae.

Not very sexy, but solid. They still have a path out of the tax if they can salary dump House and Korkmaz.
I imagine Morey says no due to Stewart's extension messing up his precious cap space, however.

Let's say they say F cap space, but still want to keep all their 1sts for an all in move in the summer.
What's the best player they could get for expirings, 2nds, and whichever of the young players teams could have some level of interest in (let's say KMart Jr and Springer)?
Do Portland or Detroit consider just moving off Brogdon or Bogdanovic for that type of return? Does Toronto give up Brown without a 1st coming back?

Re: Fantasy Trade Thread
Morris is a mediocre at best 17M+ expiring who the Sixers will not be re-signing. And since it would make good business sense to avoid the tax this year again to reset the repeater tax clock... he's a prime candidate to be broken up into smaller, cheaper pieces.
I think maybe it needs to be said out loud around here that the Sixers are not real contenders this year, and there's very few deals, if any, they can make to change that.
They are looking for pieces for next year and forward.

Re: Fantasy Trade Thread
Sixers out: Tobias Harris, Jaden Springer, ‘26 1st(better of Phil 2 ‘26 1st’s), and ‘24 2nd
Sixers in: Keldon Johnson and DeAndre Hunter
Sixers turn Tobias Harris and his expiring contract into 2 starters that are good long term fits with Embiid and Maxey at the cost of a 1st and Springer
Hawks out: DeJounte Murray and DeAndre Hunter
Hawks in: Tobias Harris, Jett Howard, and ‘25 & ‘26 1st via Orl
Hawks recoup the 2 1st’s they traded for Murray and also a young prospect in Jett Howard. Harris’ $40M expiring contract also goes a long way in them rebuilding their roster Trae and Johnson.
Magic out: Markell Fultz, Jett Howard, and ‘25 & ‘27 1st’s(both top 5 protected)
Magic in: DeJounte Murray
Magic get the guard scorer they need to compliment Suggs, Paolo and Wagner.
Spurs out: Keldon Johnson
Spurs in: Markell Fultz, Jaden Springer, ‘26 1st via Philly, and ‘24 2nd via Philly.
Johnson has been forced to a bench role because the Spurs have a bunch of players at the 2-4 but no PG. They get a look at Fultz to see if he can be a long term solution for them at PG as well as Springer, a 1st and 2nd.
Maxey/Pat Bev
Melton/Oubre
Johnson/RoCo
Hunter/Batum/Morris
Embiid/Reed
(Or starting lineup could be Maxey/Johnson/Hunter/Batum/Jo)

Re: Fantasy Trade Thread
Besides Jalen Johnson, none of those Hawks wings intrigue me at all. De'Andre Hunter is a younger Taurean Prince with the glamour of being a semi recent top five pick.
Saddiq Bey is also painfully average. He's not very athletic and can't guard anyone. Not a significant improvement on Marcus Morris.
This does widen my eyes though. I don't believe it whatsoever , but I'll humor it in this hypothetical.
Would be the ideal addition to this core. Near perfect defensive impact + matchup difficulty percentile scores. 6'8 with a 7'0 wingspan and versatile enough to match up with Dame -> Haliburton -> SGA -> Brown -> Booker -> Doncic -> Tatum -> Durant.
25 years old. Locked down until 2027 on a peach of a contract owing him less than 15 million per season.
Shooting volume ticking up per season going from 3.6 -> 4.1 -> 5.7 3PA per 100 possessions, and he's now hitting them at a 37.8% clip. Also an ~85% FT shooter which bodes well into verifying his mechanics.
Would use Melton as the conduit to facilitate the deal.
Assuming we ride with Maxey, Harris and Embiid for another season, Herb slides into that SF spot and gives us much more size, rebounding and athleticism and would make us quite a bit less easy for Boston, Milwaukee and Denver to gameplan against.
Terquavion Smith will replace Melton next season anyways.

I don’t love Hunter, but I think he can give us at least 85% of what Tobi does when playing with Embiid and Maxey. Tobi is a better scorer when asked to be the 2nd option, but when playing within the role the Sixers need from Tobi/Hunter I don’t see a huge drop off. And under control at $20M/year it’s a solid value for Hunter imo. Of course depending on the ability to get Keldon Johnson/someone similar as a better 3rd option. I wouldn’t have much interest in trading for Hunter independently
