People would dislike Embiid for his taunts he would do. The flopping he would do and acting smug against opponents like he won a championship. Also, his talks to the media throwing players under the bus.

I will bet with you on this. The loser is not allowed to post on the General Board for the whole 2024 playoffs :)

Done!

Nice, hope I'll remember this :)

On this board in this particular the blame will be placed on individuals that can be counted on one hand who defend Embiid from such slander against the hordes of jokic fanboys that gaslight these few individuals as the agitators or provokers of creating threads or leaving posts diminishing jokic greatness.

Other factors include Embiid repeated playoff failures/"choke" making him a meme of sorts where ppl just lost respect for him as a legit superstar despite ignoring the well documented injuries sustained leading up to or during postseason and blaming it as an excuse. Another is the time when sixers had this huge internal dilemma about the direction of the franchise following another early playoff exit a pretty big contingent of the sixers fan base who were very high on Ben Simmons at the time were butthurt and petty that Simmons was the one shipped off the team instead of Embiid.

Basically a culmination of all those things but primarily due to the emergence of Jokic. The constant battle between this generations great bigs to claim supremacy as not only best center but the best player in the league. As of now Jokic can hold that claim w/ his most recent accomplsjmemt and his stans feeling vidincated after Embiid justly won his mvp last season for previous robbery 2022 season. But i digress it would be nice to see Embiid achieve his redemption arc by finally getting his flowers after he wins his 2nd mvp and wins a title for city of philadelphia. Believe it or not there was a brief moment in time when Embiid was actually well liked and embraced as kind of like the guy w/ a sense of humour w/ his online twitter trolling..but those days seem like a distant memory. Embiid has already entered Kobe Bryant territory of hatred where even after he's accomplished many great things and long retired his name will be slandered.

Would you be willing to change your username if Philly does it not make out of the conference finals?

There is no battle. One is an all-time great player. The other is just a stat padder with a good PR. People just react to silly comparisons.

There will be no redemption arcs for Embiid. He doesn't have skills to be 1st option on a contender.

people say all kinds of crazy crap about embiid but claiming he has good PR has to be the most outlandish of them all

Well, thanks to his PR, he won the MVP award and is still widely considered one of the best players in the NBA despite years of proof that he doesn't have skills to perform in the playoffs.

It's not just good, it's a great PR.

I’m pretty sure you have to play a minimum of 15 to 20 minutes for the game to count

6ers bought the starters back in at :25 secs in a 7 point game so Embiid could stat pad his 10th rebound.

I think now that he played the back to back… it looks like he is going to play them. He wants the award. And with the 65 game cutoff, i don’t think he will be as penalized by the voters as people think. It’s almost as if now you can miss 16 games as per the nba with no penalty.

He also has the narrative. Harden left, team doing better. Also the points streak.

He definitely made up that he doesn’t care about mvp and cares more about winning a championship.

Feels like we're getting into Westbrook (my guy, but have to call it straight) territory here.

Ok so here's a look at how things can change day to day in the odds.

Yesterday on Caesars Sports book it was

Jokic....+160
SGA......+240
Embiid..+260

I'm not sure if the odds tonight have been updated since OKC won.

Today:
......PHI wins
......OKC wins
......DEN idle

New odds below. Jokic slight slip, Embiid slight gain and SGA same (maybe).

Lol, the guy with nickname "Chokic" is explaining us that other people are insecure and defensive in this debate

Reasons why he is disliked:
1. Flopping and foul baiting (same why people dont like Harden or CP3 but Joel took it to another level, and its also funny to see such a big guy bounce of guards like he had hit a wall)
2. Throwing other people under the bus instead of taking the blame(there is a lot of people that for example don't like Lebron because of that but thing with him is that he has done a lot in this league)
3. Taking shots at other players withot having something to back it up(there is some beefs in the league and i actually like when people speak openly about it. But doing it as fake troll attempts is counterproductive from his side)

One thing is for sure, whatever Arenas says, we all know is some deep ****. Guy has made some comments since this new "video-podcasting-era" which made me think how he even made it into the league with such low IQ.

And don't get me wrong, people are entitled to think whatever they want in this debate, i've saw some smart people taking Joel's side, but don't use guys like him or Perkins as an example, it just helps the other side.

As of now there is no redemption arc set for Embiid. He looks like another regular-season sensation similar to Harden and he has the feel of this generation's Ewing -- always the bridesmaid but never the bride.

Ewing was a great player but he lived in the shadows of Jordan and Olajuwon.

Right now, a similar dynamic seems to be playing out with Embiid, Jokic and Giannis.
Thank you Nico!
