Quickley-Barrett is a sexy backcourt pairing for years to come. Both will be stars.

Just need a 3&D dance partner for Scottie on the wings.

That’s what this FO will prioritize when they trade Siakam (Nesmith, Dort, etc).

did you feel this way about those 2 while they were on the knicks? serious question

You know I’ve been high on RJ for a while and believed him coming home to the Raps would do wonders for his growth.

As for Quickley, I knew he was good but he’s exceeded my expectations. After delving into all his numbers, and witnessing him as a starter through 7 games, I can confidently say he’s got All-Star potential. I know a lot of Knicks fans were very high on him, but fans typically think highly of their players so I just thought it was mostly all noise. I was wrong, he’s legit!

RJ has been mostly great, but there is just a lot of Duke in the guy that somewhat puts me off. Those players always carry themselves a certain way like they are God's gift to bball.

That's called being a dog. We need more of it. We had a neutered cat in Flynn. I'm sure you'll get use to it soon.

And he's only 23-years-old! We've seen this same thing with Demar. He's maturing/gaining confidence/growing stronger/more into his body and that will only help his game that he's adapted here. Should hopefully be even better next season and beyond. Def looking like he'll be our best natural go-to in the half-court for a bucket when Siakam bounces.

I'm not surprised. I thought he'd look a lot better with the Raptors where he isn't expected to create as much of his own offence. He has better than expected in his ability to cut off the ball. I don't believe in his shooting though. His mechanics don't lend themselves to consistency.

Aside from refining his jump shot, however, I think the single biggest thing RJ can do to improve his game is develop his weak hand. He has a bit of an advantage being a lefty with the angles he creates for shots but he would be a much bigger threat if he could dribble (and finish) with both hands.

There's potential there, but still a ways to go. As-is, I think it's a lower-end calibre starting backcourt - meaning that either could start on 1/3 of NBA teams, but not the really good ones unless the fit was perfect.

RJ is a better fit here than NY, but I do see the obstacles that he's got to overcome in the future. His skill level (handle, footwork, jumper) has to improve to really make an impact in this league. Defensively, nothing really stands out to be honest.

Lol, what a very RealGm way to hate on one of our players for no reason.

That's not a Duke thing, it's a top prospect/recruit thing. He's been a top 3 prospect since he was young and he's been projected to be an NBA star for a long time.

Plus you need some of that mentality to make it in the NBA.

He's a hard worker, he doesn't take plays off and he's a good team mate by everyone's accounts. Not sure what the issue is.

I’m pretty stunned with how RJ has played as a Raptor. He still makes bad decisions with the ball but you can clearly see there is a lot of talent to work with.

All the good things RJ has done in the last 9 games seem sustainable to me. He could be an All Star next year if he keeps this up.

Observed from game last night, Barrett should run down the floor on fastbreak or start in the half court from the right side of the court. This gives him more room to operate to finish left on his dominate hand. A few plays where he started on the left side and drove left, there is no angle to finish the play because everybody in the arena knew he was going left.

Vince Carter/Grant Hill on TNT broadcast acknowledged 1 good play where they credited raptors running a good play for RJ going right to left and finishing at the rim

RJ thru 11 games:

20.2ppg
7.0 rpg
3.6 apg

Shooting 55% from the field, 39% from deep. (62% TS)

(He's typically an 80% FT shooter but only shooting 64% with the Raps, so his PPG average can easily be 22ppg at the very least).

Simply put, StarJ has been nothing short of SENSATIONAL.

Look at all the negative comments that were pouring in when I first made this thread. StarJ is making a lot of people eat crow right about now.

In 11 games he’s averaging 20, 7 and 4. Surprised how much better he is than I expected. You can see flashes of why he was a #3 pick. Very aggressive and probably the best athlete on the team. He’s been the best player in the trade from both sides.
