Remember when Melo vs Ant was a legit debate?

Now not so much mainly because Melo can't stay healthy.

The Wolves traded their whole future in terms of draft picks and have the 3rd highest payroll in the league.

If the Hornets traded all our future picks and swaps we would be better in the short-term too. It is expected that they be better than us right now.

I'm talking about the player my guy.

Ant is now being talked about as the future face of the NBA. LaMelo has been great in his own right but the injuries kind of put this debate to bed as of late.

Team success determines if you are talked about by mainstream media. Here are the ways you get talked about in the NBA.
1. Top 4 seed in conference.
2. Be in trade rumors.
3. Play with LeBron.

Desmond Bane is having a good year, nobody cares about him all of sudden because Grizz are bad.

Whereas players like Kuzma, Dejounte Murray, OG and Brogdon are talked about daily.

LaMelo has a better EPM than Edwards. Winning has more to do with this vs actual impact on the court is my point.

Doesn't seem that hard to follow. You pointed out that Ant is being talked about as a future face of the NBA. JMAC explained what leads to players being talked about.

I agree. Ant is considered the better player because of this. Love LaMelo but he has to stay healthy. That's really the only thing holding him back from success.

National media and social media follows what's hot at that time. LaMelo isn't going to be talked about much since the Hornets are bad. Ant Edwards has improved and he happens to play for the #1 seed in the West. Not only that, but Edwards is going to have power highlights of dunks and what not while LaMelo's highlights will be much more crafty/finesse.

But at the end of the day, this doesn't matter. When the Hornets win, they'll be talked about more. They won't be talked about much at all because they don't win.

I've never been that invested in the Ant/Melo debate. Both are great young players.

I can understand why Wolves fans felt a bit threatened or defensive when Melo won ROY, but there's never been any reason for Hornets fans to feel any specific way about Ant. If Melo is better Minnesota messed up, if Ant is better Charlotte never had a chance at him anyway.

Melo staying healthy plays a huge part in that.

It's not like we lack talent. The culture seems off. Players can't stay on the court, even when they do play it seems like nobody is taking Clifford seriously.

I hope the next HC we hire is someone who is respected and has some type of championship experience. I wanted Dantoni, but at this point I wouldn't be mad at Doc Rivers either.

It ALWAYS starts at the top of organizations. Pro sports organizations with good owners typically find a way to win eventually. Organizations with poor owners (and by poor I mean, meddling or biased decisions, or constant controversy) tend to either never win or win seldomly and it's not sustained. We have two new owners with a clean slate. There are concerns, they could be just as bad as Bob Johnson for example. But likely they aren't as bad as MJ because they know way less about basketball which means they're less likely to make basketball decisions on their own without hiring the best of the best they can find to make those decisions instead.

Long way of saying, I think we're going to see it turn around because of that. It's a lame duck season for this entire franchise.

Speaking of Edwards, he's questionable with sickness.

Less worried about him and more worried about what KAT and Gobert are going to do to us in the paint

We have the most contusioned team in the league. I’m wondering if our medical staff got stuck on that subject in med school and never moved beyond it. “Yep, it’s a contusion” said the doc and trainer while trying to push the bone back into place.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

KAT going for Wilts record.

Damn Miller must have done nothing but watch his game tape when he was out. He is looking a step better since returning.
Your Charlotte Hornets! We’ll eventually get something right;right?
