Damn, you don’t mess with this. Let him rest and get some PT to strengthen it back up.

FUUUUUUIUIQQQQQ!!!!! That's a wrap folks. He's done. It is never going away and will always be a problem. He came into last year trying to recover from this too. That's what people said about his slow start. We can't have nice things!!!!!!!!! The best center duo in the league is over!!!

Knicks practices be like

Achilles tendinopathy (common overuse injury) refers to a combination of pathological changes affecting the Achilles tendon usually due to overuse and excessive chronic stress upon the tendon. A lack of flexibility or a stiff Achilles tendon can increase the risk of these injuries.

yup no longer being listed as ankle...its not achilles related which the main cause is overuse....so he can potential "rupture" it with more use.

40 minutes a night for basically a month for a guy that is use to play less than 20...

the whole "be tough and play through injury thing" is real stupid and outdated. mitch mentioned his ankle injury 2 games before he actually had to stop playing. what is the point of that ? if you gave him a couple weeks off you might have avoided the surgery and had him for more games than you do. the idea that our front office is mad at grimes for not playing through injury is crazy. were we gonna win it all last year ? i defend thibs for a lot of things but this sh*t is just stupid old school nonsense. most teams are extra cautious now when it comes to injuries. but we want everyone to pull a willis reed in a meaningless game in january.

It's time to get Murray and Capela here. Our center position just went from grade A to grade F.

Most people with Achilles tendinopathy improve with conservative treatment. Pain and function usually improve after 12 weeks of treatment [Asplund, 2013]. However, in some cases, symptoms of Achilles tendinopathy may last for up to 2 years, even with treatment.

I dealt with Achilles tendinopathy (and/or Sever's disease) myself in middle and high school. Not to be messed with. I played sports through it, but in retrospect, it was pretty dumb and risky.

My last flare-up was when I was 23 (10 years ago) training for a trek in the Himalayas. Did RICE for a few days and I was good to go. Severity can vary, hopefully iHart's case is mild.

It could be different for an adult, for better or worse. I think you're right when it comes to the Achilles, as a general matter. I wonder if there are any orthotic devices that can protect it during play, assuming that the inflammation is on the milder side.

Yeah on my end, my feet tend to over-pronate which can put strain on the Achilles. iHart may be dealing with something similar, given that it's been a nagging injury that he has a history with. It likely is going to be something he has to watch for his entire career, but there are insoles to correct over-pronation. I can play sports extensively or run/hike for miles with them, no issue.

Somebody has to get me off the ledge right now!! I don't like anything I have read so far about this injury.

The structural changes that occur in the tendon due to degeneration are largely irreversible, but the symptoms may resolve and thus the athlete may be able to return to play. However, symptoms sometimes recur after activities are resumed

His future will always be uncertain so, we can probably keep him on a cheap deal but, we already have Mitch who is also ALWAYS injured. I am pretty disappointed right now. I guess we will see two 3rd string players holding down the 5 for a while waiting on further diagnosis on iHart. He was pretty vital to our success this season. Now we have NOTHING to replace him with. This is not good. Not at all. Really deflating honestly. Limping into the ASB with no bench and no starting center? We just went from a threat to a first round exit in one day. I am really not happy at all about this shyt.

The most awful shat is that you know these franchises and fanbases will throw away a player if they get hurt that way. It’s why I hear people getting upset about Jeremy Lin not playing in the playoffs and I’m like, what? The dude was sleeping on Landry Field’s couch a few months ago. The flip side of that is Isaiah Thomas and how Ainge and Boston did him dirty.

Love my Knicks but if any players asks me for advice, I’d tell them you gotta protect yourself
