We finally get Rozier? 10 years after the proposed Celtics trade.

Thank you Mitch Kupchak and thank you Mrs. Riley for taking one for the team.

Likely reality is we already didn't have enough picks if Brooklyn or NY (or a bevvy of others) were suitors.

Mitchell if he wants out (no one really knows if he does) would have had a big say on where he would go. After this season he has a year before he can opt out. He would have had massive leverage.
I think we would have been able to put a competitive package but it would have involved Herro and JJJ + picks. Maybe JJJ would have been a price too high for the FO

I like the idea of trading 1 of Herro or Duncan for another immediate upgrade now. This Rozier deal signals a win now move from the front office and the time to act on another deal is soon with the trade deadline right around the corner

Hence the concern with NY and BKN having more picks than us.

IMO trading JJJ and Herro and all our picks would be pushing not worth it.

Hmmmmmmm; I’m happy. I wouldn’t have been against another 1st for Dejounte to be honest but either way we got my number 2 guy and he fills a massive need.

I think the Heat are still dancing around the salary and tax so I'm not expecting anything to get done with Herro since it would mean taking in salary which would probably end up being a lateral move but trading Duncan's contract should be able to net an expiring with a small asset attached.

The trade makes too much sense.. we upgraded by a lot.. and we didnt give up much.

Lowry was once in a package with 5-6 other players for Dame.. lowry and a first for a guy as productive as Rozier, whilst keeping all of our other talent. Thats a win

We know the Arisons for any further deals they'll probably pay close attention to the luxury tax. I can see Duncan getting moved for an expiring as some have suggested. I think Herro stays this season. If he hurt again playoff time or has a poor playoff run, I can see him getting moved for a piece and also to reduce the salary commitments

I'd go all in for a PF using Herro or Duncan or Martin.

I guess we didn't go for M.Bridges because that wouldv'e get done in the Rozier deal.

Still a few options out there

Micky saves like 15 million in this deal in tax money. Of course he was gonna sign off quick on this Rozier deal  Now Andy has to figure out how to get out of the tax for next year with Rozier's salary taking up most of the wiggle room.

I think atlanta wouldve asked for 2 more firsts and probably Martin plus another player for it. Dejounte is nice but not that nice.. we have a better future keeping our picks and a deeper roster not giving up a productive player

Upgraded athleticism at PG

Upgraded scoring at PG

Upgraded 3-point shooting at PG

Upgraded playmaking at PG

Upgraded paint penetration at PG (better than anyone in our guard rotation)

Upgraded pick and roll play from lead ballhandler

Allows Herro to play more off-ball (better fit)

Allows Jimmy to pick his spots and be less pressed to serve as our only source of reliable offense

Allows Bam to carry a lighter load setting up the offense and creating for himself --> more easy looks

Always watch the luxury tax with the Arisons. This one of the reasons I came around on Lebron leaving. We wasted picks to cut salary during the big 3 era when we should have been going all in no matter the costs

I’d prefer to move Herro over Duncan, 1 because Duncan is the far better fit; 2 because Herro would net the better player coming back and we could still shed some expiring money in a deal with him but I actually do believe we need to hold on to Herro now because he’s necessary in a future Mitchell or star trade with us having 1 less 1st. Unless of course something too good to pass up comes up between now and the deadline
