Correct, we have a $5M exception we can use I believe

For a player getting bought out making 12.5 or less

There will be some solid options!

No way we dance around the 2nd apron let alone the first apron. Duncan and Bryant are the next dominoes bringing in useful expiring’s that get us clean out of the tax and allow us to use the MLE.

Miami wouldn't have pulled this trigger and be financially strapped unless there was a follow up trade that gets them where they need to be again. Something along the lines of Thomas Bryant + Caleb Martin for Picks and expiring contracts.

Trading Martin and Bryant does nothing. You save 2.5 million from Bryant’s opt in. That does nothing. Get ready to see Duncan, Bryant, and Smith contract getting shipped soon

A motivated Terry Rozier is interesting to see what he got fully focused and playing with a purpose to win. I have always felt Rozier was a hyper competitive player similar to Old school Vernon Maxwell

Miami loves Caleb and honestly with our style of play apparently getting an increase in pace they probably love Martin and Highsmith as our 4s still and are fine with them being set there for the year.

We’re still missing a backup PG and if we’re moving Duncan we need to be getting a shooter back.

Monte Morris and Alec Burks easily makes the most sense to me.

And you sign Tucker in the buyout. That works for me

With all the ball handlers we have not sure if back up pg is our top priority.

A solid vet pg at the min could be a good choice but don’t know who’s avail. Gogi would of been nice tbh

I'm honestly still kinda in shock we actually made a move! It just made too much sense not to happen! But we just hadn't managed to or taken the plunge for a move in so long, it just seemed like we never would do anything again for a while there hahaha

We don’t need all the ball handlers. We need two true PG’s and keep the musical ball handlers to a limit

Lowry has been trash since the moment he arrived. I never wanted Lowry at all, so I’m happy we got rid of him. Terry is an ok pick up. Doesn’t propel us any further or set us back. Lowry was a better defender tho, but not at 35mil. Idk to me it’s more of a salary savings than a win now move. Rozier makes less. He’s having a career year on not so good percentages. Still need more if we want to contend and not just be another underdog story

I personally do not lol sure I’ll sign him for a 3rd stringer but JJJ is the only young guy like that I want getting playing time. Williams and Cain I wouldn’t mind giving standard deals as 3rd stringers but in terms of actually seeing what Williams can do here, that doesn’t interet me yet. It’s win now mode, High level players and vets only!!!

Lowry hasn’t played defense since his first season here lol he’s been a traffic cone the last 2 seasons and doesn’t even set up for charges to make up for it now

I don’t know how willing the Pistons are to taking on money considering they just dumped Bagley paying 2 SRP’s to get off his 12.5 million next year. Wiz have come out and said they will take money for picks.

With the glut of contributing wing players Miami has, dedicating 12+ minutes to a guy whose sole skillset is to be a true backup PG probably doesn't make sense in a playoff rotation. Spo likes musical ball handlers by design. I'm still convinced so much of Spo's coaching philosophy is the imprint of the 2014 Spurs on him.

I know we're all talking about another trade to consolidate the roster. But, in the absence of that, it will be hard enough to find minutes for all of the 2s and 3s on the roster that seemingly have something to contribute.

Butler 2-4 (superstar)
Jaquez 2-4 (utility)
Herro 2/1 (scorer; shooter; secondary ballhandler)
Duncan 2-3 (elite shooter)
Martin 2-4 (utility; best POA defender on roster)
Highsmith 4/3 (3 & high level D)
Richardson 1-2 (needs to become hyperfocused on 3&D and serving as a premier POA defender to maintain role IMO)

Agreed--we want to have them available (along with Swider) to gain real minutes next season
