This was setup to fail and it's on Horst for making the final call.

Horst's offseason got Giannis to extend.

That matters so much more than this coaching situation, as wildly unfortunate as it's been.

We have no idea if hiring Griffin actually played into Giannis extending. We heard the rumors that Giannis wanted Griff, but to say Horst hired him just to get Giannis to extend is completely letting Horst off the hook for this debacle.

Let's not forget that Giannis extended after the Dame trade.

Hiring Griffin and then making the blockbuster trade to go all in with Dame (pre Giannis extension) had zero cohesion.

anybody but Doc or Mark Jackson or any prayer circle leading loser player coach, we need competence. Think about the fact the other guy they wanted was Monty Williams, they should ask what coaches Giannis likes and promptly find the most opposite leaning ones they can find

I guess I am one of the few people who has always thought Doc was a pretty solid NBA head coach. At worst he's an obvious upgrade for Griffin. Hell, Prunty is a pretty solid upgrade over Griffin.

The Sixers would have beaten Boston in the playoffs last season with Doc if two chokers (Embiid, Harden) didn't choke.

He also will be respected by the players and officials. I have never been a big fan because I hated his incessant whining on the sidelines but his teams have always been good and competent for the most part. He seems like the one coach out there that could get things organized on short notice. Not sure it’s enough with our roster though anyways but let’s see

Won't injure myself patting myself on the back but this is from Saturday in the Bucks Transactions thread. He specifically mentioned Doc or Van Gundy as replacements and at the time I thought it was speculation, but now I'm wondering...

I just learned that Haslam was at the Cleveland game and had a bunch of people there and is not pleased with our Head Coach.

(not an insider, just sharing what I heard from someone I trust and that has a reason for knowing this info)

Any excitement about canning Griff immediately flies out the window if Doc Rivers is the replacement. And there have certainly been ppl advocating for him, there’s a poll on the board specifically for who you’d rather have between the 2. lol. They’re both absolute trash bags.
