How is it throwing away the season any more than hiring Doc Rivers? Because he's on TV and has Milwaukee connections?

If you're just going to let Prunty coach the rest of the season...why would you even bother firing Griff?

Doc for all the crap he gets, actually has won...you have a better chance of winning with Doc than rolling with Prunty.

My guess is that they would have probably rolled with Griff if the players weren't so disgruntled. They didn't want a mutiny.

I hope many of you are tempering your expectations.. A new coach isnt going to make Khris and Brook five years younger. He isnt going to make Dame and Beas average defenders. Our offense looked better under Griff than it ever did under Bud. Lots of movement. Obviously there are areas that can improve but I don't know how he fixed some of our biggest problems.

I also hesitate to get excited because we had an extremely sound guy who had very strict principles and Giannis got tired of the control...so now what?

Sports fandom pushes us to seek out magic bullets and scapegoats but sometimes your team just doesn't have it. Unless certain players just weren't trying because they didn't believe in the coach I am leaning pretty far into the idea that the roster needs a major overhaul. But that probably can't happen until the off season.

That's fair and prob accurate.

My point still stands, better chance to win a chip with Doc than rolling with Prunty. I don't even think it's a debate.

Ron Swanson wrote:Again, we already interviewed Atkinson and he was one of 3 finalists. He's from the Pop/Bud coaching tree, has plenty of previous HC experience, and was even the first guy to help transform Brook's game into more of a modern floor-spacer. He's just such an obvious fit here and 100% should be the guy. Not holding my breath though. This seems like a telegraphed Rivers to Milwaukee homecoming. Sadly, it's happening...

Do the Warriors let you interview him midseason? I do t disagree but I’m not just offering it to him without getting his thoughts on the roster now. He interviewed pre-Dame.

Ya, the lack of Dame.

This hiring came BEFORE the Dame trade, when everyone on this board also thought this roster was massively flawed and destined for an early playoff exit.

That is probably what Nurse saw.

And it seemed like they had no roster flexibility until the Dame trade fell into their lap. And Nurse saw that Giannis runs the team, not the coach.

Embiid put up 70 last night in a game where they had the Spurs done in the 3rd. I think it's fair to say Embiid also runs the team a little bit. It comes with being an MVP. Nurse didn't run from that with Giannis.

But this team was bringing back the exact same roster. Nurse would have been the only difference, and not winning it all would put an immediate target on his back. The Sixers had a disgruntled Harden that was going to get moved, so there was that natural grace period with the Sixers of "new team."

League sources say Doc Rivers, who signed on as an ESPN analyst after getting fired by Philadelphia in May, began to serve as an informal consultant to Griffin at the behest of the Bucks. One month later, multiple sources briefed on the matter now indicate that Rivers is the serious leader for the now-vacant position and the preferred choice of key stakeholders.

The Bucks have started discussions with Rivers to become the new head coach of the franchise, league sources said. Warriors assistant coach Kenny Atkinson, who was a runner-up to Griffin in the Bucks’ head coaching search last year, is a candidate for the job as well if the team is unable to secure a deal with Rivers.

Good on the Bucks for failing fast at least!

Didn't get Nurse but did get Giannis to extend.

Nurse saw something he didn't like. Something that had nothing to do with Griffin.

I seriously doubt it.

The Bucks (Giannis) just made a dumb decision.

Completely low-brow and idiotic.

I like stirring the pot so I'll also say it was really dumb :D

Wow, could only read the first couple paragraphs of the article.

Shams says the bucks made Doc a consultant for Griff. Says if can’t get a deal with Doc, then will look at Atkinson.
