Random thought - Terry and Caleb being in Miami is definitely gonna make me much less annoyed with Miami, might even have to pull for them here and there.
Probably the most annoying facet of this deal.

You can give him a pass at times when was asked to take on an unreasonable offensive burden, but he stopped playing defense basically the second he got to Charlotte.
I assume that the teams that wanted to trade for him assume they are likely getting at least a bit better defender than what he showed in Charlotte, but they certainly weren't going to pay a premium for him as if he had been a solid defender most of the time over the last few years.
I honestly don't blame him or any of the veterans for not taking things 100% seriously the last season and a half. Not trying to bash him or anything and he deserves to go to a good team like the Heat.
laughing at all the GB people who think he's a good defender but I stg he will probs "rediscover" his defense in South Florida

If that pick doesn't convey by next season it turns into 2 2nds which seems likely at this point.
I wouldn't be shocked if we can get our pick back from San Antonio by trading them Lowry or Hayward's expiring contract for Graham and McDermott.
If we can then flip the other expiring contract for another asset we'd be in a great position to pull off a trade for a real impact player in the not too distant future.
While that would give us additional flexibility, I don't even know if we need to get our pick back from them. The likelihood of us making the playoffs next year is even more slim now than it was yesterday. I think we would be better off trying to get picks from other teams and assume that we essentially are losing 2 2nds instead of a 1st from the Kai trade

I think they'd give Amari Bailey a call up from the Swarm before they give minutes to Bouknight. Bouknight's already been given his notice, they are just making him work as a body in practice until his deal expires.
More minutes and opportunities for NSJr and to a lesser extent Brandon Miller is also a plus.
I'm also happy for Terry. He didn't ever try to avoid playing and milk injuries to the max like Hayward, or flat out quit like Bumtum. I hope he does well and he leaves here on good terms with everyone.

Hopefully we can trade Hayward and Lowry for expiring filler plus seconds (unlikely at that salary amount IMO) or trade them for firsts and only take back one year extra bad salary.
I'm glad we finally chose a lane. Can we find a Josh Hart to pair with LaMelo through a trade or FA?
I think the is an inaccurate portrayal of the trade board for anyone who had not been there.
If posters read it, I think they will see that while many posters had Rozier as not as good as Anthony Davis or Chris Paul, most still had him as worth expirings and a first.
Perhaps I used a touch of hyperbole, but I could probably find 100 posts labelling Terry as negative value and the same amount claiming he is not worth any form of first rounder in the last six months if I had the time or the inclination to do so.

Re: Rozier to Miami
Underrated aspect of this trade is if Miami were to miss the playoffs next year that would push back conveyance of their 2025 pick to OKC a year, and in turn automatically push back this pick to 2028 unprotected.
The two paths to removing protection are Miami missing the playoffs next year or in 2027, which is not out of the realm of possibility with fewer picks to replenish their talent pool and an aging core. As it stands, they are not comfortably out of the play in. Fast forward 3-4 years and a lot can change.

Maybe. I know the recent thread had the majority of posters having expiring and first value, although just like there was a post or two asking for straight expirings there was also a post or two asking for more than a 1st and expirings.
I have it as a great trade for Charlotte, and exciting that they are taking this direction long term.

That sound you just made is the dreaded Kupchak's crack of the bat on a HR swing.
5 starters selected in the draft in 6 years, #1 cap space team this summer.
There's a FIRE MITCH thread. I'm so embarrassed.
It has been written...

5 starters selected on a team that is 10-31 and has absolutely zero depth and yet bizarrely chose not to use either the MLE or BAE last summer. Yes there are unusual circumstances involved with injuries and off court stuff, but there's still not really a defense to some of our depth issues.

There is nothing the Miami Heat could ever do that would make me support them. Doesn't matter who's on the team.
