If they miss the playoffs, its very highly unlikely they get into top 3. Less than 3% chance. There would be 1% chance that it'll be 4th. Othwerwise It'll be 14th pick which is fine for us. Or if they do make the playoffs as a Play-In team, it'll be 16th or 17th pick.

This draft has all-time devastation or elation potential. Imagine they moved up to #1 with their own pick and #4 with the Pacers pick. Now imagine they drop to 7th and it goes to the Spurs and the Pacers sneak into the top 3, leaving the Raptors with only the 27th and 31st picks in the draft.

Both unlikely scenarios but the swing would be crazy.

Tanenbaum needs to start courting Silver ASAP. I hear they have a great relationship.

Obviously the pressure of a mid-January game is getting to them.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

NBA pretends to help the Raptors, but never too much. We were allowed to get the #1 slot in 2006, because it was a horrible draft year. Our secret compensation for playing in Tampa and keeping the games fairly competitive in the 2020-21 season was to move up in the lottery. Not to #1, of course. Cade Cunningham had to go to a US team. But we were allowed to pick #4 in what was widely viewed as a three person draft. No-one categorized Suggs with Cade/Green/Mobley as a prospect. For good reason,as it turned out (although Suggs has developed into a very useful player).

So of course, in another bad draft year, I expect the league to move the Raps up to the top four as a "reward" for us fertilizing the rest of the league with our talent. Here's hoping Masai can avoid drafting Andrea Bargnani (or Anthony Bennett) 2.0.

A thing of beauty. Let's keep it up and have this thing go into the lottery.

We're really going to do this for half a season? Lol

Also, we're only two and a half games back of the play-in?

Goodbye "Evaluating" Hello "Flexibility,"

Imho Mgmt has created two paths moving forward.

1. Build from the bench (which they should've been doing instead of using FRP for lateral moves)
2. Trade for an all-star. (Markkanen)

WtOg posted a tweet today saying if the Pacers secure a top 3 pick the raptors get their SRP. Yikes.

That's not how it works anymore. Indiana is and will likely be a Play-In team. They likely stay where they are at 7th. They need to win 1 of 2 games in Play-In tournament to make the playoffs. If they dont get in because they lose both games, then the pick becomes lottery.

Masai has been too good to his guys. He looked out for each and every player and did what was best for them to get paid and go to a better situation.

I think its fair we now get some goodwill back in our favour from the basketball gods. Outside of tanking in the Tampa year we have always played to win, even when it was obvious we should tank. I don't think that changes anytime now. We did whats best to win as an organization and helped our players all get paid. That should built some real value for the front office in the NBA. Now its time for us to get some payback. Yes we did some bad moves with the Thad trade and maybe the Poetl trade as well. Lets move forward with the new team and build those winning habits.

Realistically I want the Pacers to struggle this year big time and us get a top 10 pick ideally. I Also want us to make a big run and make the playoffs via Play-in to get more exposure and experience.

I also want the Pacers to max out Pascal so he gets paid and they do well in 2025 for his sake and the Pacers to get excited as well.

I then hope they struggle in 2026 and we get another top 10 pick to make everything even in the universe :)!!
