The Bucks need a gravitas and a vocal leader who commands respect and gets buyin.

Doc is that

Maybe if his name was Denise instead of Dennis.

I have some questions, regardless:

* Do we know why Giannis hates Nurse so much? Guessing this links back to 2019.
* Why on Earth were so many of you clamouring for Atkinson? He had four relatively mediocre seasons at the Nets and got canned just before they brought in KD. My memory of those Nets teams were them being not quite as bad as people thought they'd be but I don't recall Atkinson standing out as a brilliant coach at the time. What am I missing about Kenny?

I don't mind the Doc hiring. He's not an elite coach anymore, but he's not terrible either and honestly that might be enough for a team with this much talent to win. We need someone who is proven and will command the respect of the players. Doc provides this. After swinging for the fences with Griffin, I don't think it was tenable to bring in another career assistant in Kenny A. No hate on the guy but it's too much of a risk coming of the Griff debacle.

Guess is it's Nurse running his players into the ground.

I have been ready for Doc since November. I wouldn’t have liked it in June but I think it’s by far the best choice now.

He gets credit for cutting bait 1/2 way into the season. Many/most GM's would never admit a mistake that quickly. Bad hire but a great fire.

Giannis loved Kidd though, and Kidd had them playing all night every night.

All Doc needs to do is command the respect from Gianni, then Dame, Khris and Brook. If the "Big Four" buy in it should be fine. And we just have to hope that Doc's "consultant" role was secretly him telling Horst and the Owners "This system is exposing this roster's weaknesses as opposed to accentuating its strengths."

I think the real question is how much of it was actually consulting and how much was just bringing in Doc to get a front row view of his future players a month before he's actually hired as head coach.

You're probably right. I hope what Doc was reporting to Horst and the Owners was worthwhile.
"Wes, Hill, Ibaka, Allen, Nwora, Brook, Pat, Ingles, Khris are all slow-mo, injury prone ... a sandcastle waiting for playoff wave to get wrecked. A castle with no long-range archers... is destined to fall. That is all I have to say."-- FOTIS

This was where the Haslem money came in. The Bucks are paying 3 head coaches this season. That’s **** you money.

Obvious things looking forward to.

Beasley to the bench
Defensive structure
Guided hand on Offense
No more Giannis 3s
Pulling Giannis is obvious fouling situation's.
Telling Bobby to STFU and play.

I'm sure I can think of more.

Giannis and Khris were also a lot younger.

This will be... something if the Bucks still look bad under Doc. Was he giving Griff bad advice on purpose for the last month?

Doc doesn't have the creampuff schedule AG had. It will be a challenging couple of weeks.

I’m mostly looking forward to hearing Doc yell, “THATS A FOUL” from the bench all the time.

Maybe we get the new coach bump where our guys actually play hard again. That would help

Fail fast.

Again, I'm far from super pumped about Doc and I am skeptical, but I think I'm a lot further along than many of you so I'll hop on an help man the optimist bandwagon for a while.
