It was the same day. I'd assume we were trading for Gasol regardless and just looking at Gortat as a Greg Monroe replacement.

I always wondered if we could've gotten it done with JV, ino Gasol played very well throughout that playoffs, some key buckets and great defense. But that was his last has yr, JV would've been useful the following yrs.
JV & Gortat would've been a solid C rotation, along with Ibaka....

But Gasol was a difference market no doubt about it

When Ring Chasing goes wrong

We might have gotten lucky too though. We beat Philly in game 7 thanks to Greg Monroe, basically. Think he was -6 in 1:30 in the first quarter and then -3 in 6 seconds in the 2nd quarter. We went small with Serge at C, Pascal, Kawhi, Danny G. and FVV. If we have Gortat who knows, maybe we try and run him out against Monroe and we don't win that time so handily and force Embiid back into the game, which might have kept Embiid fresher late in the game. lots of knock on effects.

I've thought a lot about the alternate scenarios in that series (mostly around OG, and if that messes with Nurse trying the Gasol/Ibaka lineups that unlocked offense for us). But I don't think Gortat sees the floor regardless.

It's funny because Brown thoroughly outcoached Nurse in that series, but still showed you why he's a bad coach by going back to the one guy who should have never seen the floor after his early series stint. An indefensible move that might have cost them the series.

I completely forgot about Eric Moreland until this thread. Wasn't even that long ago

I'm still a huge JV stan to this day but no way we get past Embiid that year without Marc to neutralize him

His own damn fault for trying to take the easiest way out with ring chasing.

They should have put that on the back of his basketball card.

I dont understand the quote exactly. We called him multiple times but he said no because he was hoping to sign with Golden State? But Golden State said they had no interest in a big man, and then he felt betrayed when they signed a big man. But if they said no, why didn't he just sign with the Raptors?

Yeah it doesnt make sense. This article dated March 2, 2019 said Raptors and Gortat had mutual interest. https://larrybrownsports.com/basketball/raptors-may-sign-marcin-gortat/486366

Bogut signed with the Warriors on March 6, 2019. Then Eric Moreland signed a 10-day with the Raptors on March 14.

I guess there were "rumours" via agents/leaks etc. that GSW had interest in him, so he was holding out for GS. GS strung him along probably to confirm Bogut was healthy/ready. Gortat was probably plan B if anything.

Kinda like those girls that string you along with texts here and there, but saying they're not sure they want a relationship, meanwhile she's talking to another guy and they end up dating after she ghosts you.

We can use him right about now
Google "Hind Rajab"
Total Killed by Israel = 50,000+
Israel kills a child every 45 minutes and ban aid workers from bringing in baby formula
Total being starved by Israel = 500,000 -1,000,000

I stand by the Eric Moreland decision.
He was key in the push.

Eric Moreland wanted to fight Josh Lewenberg, pumped up Kawhi after his shot, and looked out for drunk Gasol. He was the real MVP.

Apparently he only wanted to sign with Golden State: https://www.express.co.uk/sport/othersport/1093187/Golden-State-Warriors-Marcin-Gortat-Milwaukee-Bucks-LA-Clippers-NBA-news-gossip-rumours

This whole thing is ridiculous anyways since it's 100% in hindsight. He clearly didn't expect Toronto to win the championship, so he was never going to sign here.

It was Moreland that Lewenberg had the beef with, right? He wouldn't have messed with Gortat. :D

Yeah pretty much. On both sides, but mostly cuz the girls get bombarded by 100s of guys, so they string a few along until they find the absolute best they can.

100% He (and prob everyone else) thought GS was going to win pretty handily.
I have 0% sympathy for him. GS having him might've made things a little more difficult for us since they really didn't have any competent big men at that time, but I think we'd still win.
