The holdup is probably Doc trying to negotiate a coaching spot for Bill Simmons. Bill couldn't get the GM gig back in the day so this will have to do.

Re: Griffin fired!- Doc Hired
There want an experienced coach that's currently available, I don't think there has ever been any other candidate besides Doc Rivers.
Bud bros I will never surrender, best man for the job now and going forward. this franchise was trending the direction of the Spurs, now its just a total mess with Giannis calling the shots completely. Giannis moving into the territory of being a Lebron/KD like coach killer and de facto GM
not hiring Nick Nurse because Giannis was being a bitch is going to cost us a championship, probably got Bud fired then personally picked Griffin, now he got Griff fired and I'm guessing wants Doc Rivers

a championship coach like that would be a good hire for the Bucks, bet he could turn it around quick

I’m really upset that Giannis didn’t want to be coached by Nurse. Like OK, maybe you didn’t like him personally, whatever. But to stand behind a Bozo like Griffin instead of a championship-winning, proven NBA head coach is really dumb.

I've never seen anyone try to "post through it" like this. You've been ranting nonstop since Doc's name was mentioned.

Dude I've been agitated since that hypothetical thread was put up, I can't believe people think its an acceptable option. I couldn't believe they hired Griffin in the offseason too, I was pissed. Horst blew it, he should be shot out of a cannon into Lake Michigan.

The Nurse sycophants now turning on Giannis need to give it a rest. Stein painting this dumb picture that Giannis was somehow hell bent on Griffin "being his guy" is great for social media drama and clicks, but doesn't pass the smell test. Everything from the original interview process would indicate that he was given input once they narrowed it down to the 3 finalists, and just because he didn't want to play for a Thibs clone who'd force 37-minutes a night on him (probably Kidd PTSD), doesn't mean that Griffin was then the only option. Atksinson was the clear choice, and hell, you still had Vogel and even Charles Lee that were better options. At the end of the day, it's on ownership and the front office for the original hire.

This is what I said in that thread.

I stand by that. As excited as I was about Griffin getting canned, that's about how disappointed I was reading their first choice is Doc **** Rivers. We have the past 15 years of evidence. He's not a good coach, especially when it matters. No amount of rationalizing ("Well he's better than Grief!") would make this okay.

It's been known since Grief was hired that he was Giannis's hand-picked guy. I don't know what you're doing here.

Giannis has tremendous gravity especially with a contract extension in limbo. The front office is more than prone to panic moves, as well. I’m sure they all have quite a part in the disaster of a hire.

I love Giannis and think he’s a pretty great guy, but some of you go to weird lengths to deflect blame from him.

The fact other names that came out this summer were Monty Williams & Mark Jackson really tells you a lot about how stupid of player Giannis is or its the FO that's throwing him under the bus. I'm not sure which option is better. Its just a bush league org right now, IMO Horst should get fired for all this. The Dame trade isn't enough of a masterstroke to ensure his job, get a real professional running things not this FedEx loser.

I know for an absolute 100% fact (well, I'll say 99%, can always leave room for error) that Giannis specifically did not want Nurse.

I just want it to be fun to watch Bucks basketball again.
Specifics: Players are having fun. They're confident due to being on the same page. Maybe Doc can convince Dame to smile once in a while. The brilliance of Giannis and Dame not only stands out individually, but also by making others better. Teamwork on both ends. Ball movement. Enthusiasm.

MG: I didn’t have the best time with Doc Rivers, unfortunately. He’s a good dude and great to talk to with incredible stories and a rich history in the NBA. However, I wouldn’t trust his coaching decisions. I just don’t have confidence in them.
What do you mean by that?
Marcin Gortat: I just don’t trust him in many different areas. I’ve been with some of the greatest coaches in the NBA, and one of the best was Stan Van Gundy. Stan is an incredible coach who prepares you for every game and practice. When things get tough in a game and Stan calls a timeout, you know you’ll get valuable information and a play that puts you on the right path. He’s a leader on the bench, and you can trust that next year, Stan will come up with something to make our team better.
.....
Now, going back to Doc, I just don’t trust him. I couldn’t trust him, and that’s it.

Re: Griffin fired!- Doc Hired
The bucks were lauded for their wide-reaching search. That search deemed Griffin a finalist, and that’s the part where the bucks front office should probably get considerable heat. How did he make it that far?
The reports on Giannis picking griffin were after he had already made it to the final round, and I believe he just picked the coach that was a former player and he could connect with. There aren’t reports that Giannis backed Griffin from the beginning, and I doubt he was part of early interview rounds. They gave him 3 candidates, and he chose from them.
Yes, the one he backed was the worst, but it’s not all on Giannis since the front office concluded Griffin was a worthy finalist.

Okay you don't want to hear from somebody that's played for him, find one fan of a Doc Rivers coached team in the last decade that thinks we're making a championship move here. Head in the sand about Doc Rivers isn't better than head in the sand about Doc Griffin.

Re: Griffin fired!- Doc Hired
I'm indifferent on Rivers. I'm sure he's smart enough to know (after a month of basically scouting the team) the type of basic tweaks to what we're running schematically. Will he have the gravitas to call out guys and adjust on the fly in a playoff series are the major questions.
"Wes, Hill, Ibaka, Allen, Nwora, Brook, Pat, Ingles, Khris are all slow-mo, injury prone ... a sandcastle waiting for playoff wave to get wrecked. A castle with no long-range archers... is destined to fall. That is all I have to say."-- FOTIS
