This is a day for celebration guys.
Very old reference, but I’d look for a Harvey Kuenn effect in that locker room. Guys are just going to be relieved Griff is gone. You’ll see a lot more effort out there.

Specifics: Players are having fun. They're confident due to being on the same page. Maybe Doc can convince Dame to smile once in a while. The brilliance of Giannis and Dame not only stands out individually, but also by making others better. Teamwork on both ends. Ball movement. Enthusiasm.
100% - Under Griffin it was nonstop shouting at each other, tapping of chests saying my bad, etc. Nobody seemed to be having much fun outside of a Beasley shimmy here and there. I'm not a big Doc fan, but I think he will inject the much needed enthusiasm you call for.
Luke Ridnour getting silly all over - throwing mad alley oops to Ilyasova.

Everything from the original interview process would indicate that he was given input once they narrowed it down to the 3 finalists, and just because he didn't want to play for a Thibs clone who'd force 37-minutes a night on him (probably Kidd PTSD), doesn't mean that Griffin was then the only option. Atksinson was the clear choice, and hell, you still had Vogel and even Charles Lee that were better options. At the end of the day, it's on ownership and the front office for the original hire.
It's been known since Grief was hired that he was Giannis's hand-picked guy. I don't know what you're doing here.
What about bailing on a coach in a historically short amount of time despite a 30-13 record says that Giannis was as hell bent on Griffin as his "hand-picked" guy?
The reports on Giannis picking griffin were after he had already made it to the final round, and I believe he just picked the coach that was a former player and he could connect with. There aren’t reports that Giannis backed Griffin from the beginning, and I doubt he was part of early interview rounds.
This. You guys crucifying Giannis for the front office actually seeking his input after they did an exhaustive coaching search seem to be the ones misplacing blame here. He'll get some heat for this, but most of it is undeserved.

Okay you don't want to hear from somebody that's played for him, find one fan of a Doc Rivers coached team in the last decade that thinks we're making a championship move here. Head in the sand about Doc Rivers isn't better than head in the sand about Doc Griffin.
Shaq also played for SVG and called him a master of panic. Dwight went to management and asked them to fire him.
Im not saying anyone is wrong, im just saying its all subjective and depends on who you ask.

A Dale Sveum reference would have been more appropriate for my age bracket

It shows that Giannis quickly figured out he **** up.
Giannis is great. But it's not like he isn't capable of completing botching things. He's just the latest in a very, very long list of players who play GM and make a complete mess.

Re: Griffin fired!- Doc Hired
Both sides deserve a lot of blame. Giannis and the FO both know Giannis has a ton of leverage in any and all operational decisions based on his stardom, what he means to the city, his looming extension, and contending for a title. They pretty much have to listen to him to some degree. Giannis deserves blame for, knowing how much the organization values his input, shunning a very successful head coaching candidate in Nurse just because he didn't like him, his personaltiy, or whatever else.
This would have been different if the timing was different. It's just a shame we didn't have Dame and the GA extension ahead of time, because then the organization would have had all the leverage in the coaching search/decision.

Whether Giannis picked Griffin from the start or he picked him from the finalists, it is ultimately the Bucks FO that makes the call and they **** it up. They should not have presented Griffin as an option at all.
I know Giannis's contract situation was a concern, but winning solves a lot of ills and my guess is that he would have extended either way once we traded for Dame.

Bud bros I will never surrender, best man for the job now and going forward. this franchise was trending the direction of the Spurs, now its just a total mess with Giannis calling the shots completely. Giannis moving into the territory of being a Lebron/KD like coach killer and de facto GM
not hiring Nick Nurse because Giannis was being a bitch is going to cost us a championship, probably got Bud fired then personally picked Griffin, now he got Griff fired and I'm guessing wants Doc Rivers
Bud was not the answer. He was good, but not good enough when it mattered. Get over him.
Grief was a gamble. You can do this only if you correct it in time if needed. That's what they did now. With Doc it will be somewhat of a gamble again, but you never get guarantees. Start doing your homework for a new coach for next season in case it doesn't work with Doc as well. If Doc helps to win the title or reach the finals, he will be the coach in the remaining Giannis-Dame years.

Yes, the Dame trade made a GA extension a lock. Like I said, the timing of everything this offseason was just off.

Giannis didn't have any legitimate reason to not want to play for Nurse, he could have cried into his pillow with his 2nd ring and 3rd MVP trophy. Giannis shouldn't have any input on basketball decisions if he's making calls on vibes and who he personally likes more.
Giannis handpicked Griffin and ultimately was likely the guy who got him fired once he lost him too, its a bad bad look

That was exactly what I thought. They were literally winning some games in spite of him. Pathetic!

I still remember a poster saying I was being unreasonable when I said I didn't believe anything "good" (in terms of adjustments or plays or whatever) was done intentionally, and now I'm feeling vindicated

100% agree with this. This is management 101 and they absolutely failed in that regard.

You don't know that. Maybe no basketball related reasons. Other reasons matter as well. If Giannis was unhappy with the coach he might not resign. You wanted that?

Doc has the chance to do the funniest thing here and come in and look like a savior by simply doing the most obvious and basic things and letting the stars star.

half the raptors team hated his guts by the end of his tenure, and giannis is friends with several of them
