Poor Joe Prunty. Always a bridesmaid, never a bride.

I am no Doc apologist, but I still can't help but be overjoyed that Griffin is gone.

Let's go win another championship.

We don't know if this was it but if Giannis simply didn't like Nurses personality that's a valid reason not to hire him. **** doesn't work if your best player thinks his coach is a ****.

That’s a **** reason to not hire someone. What is it about his personality that he doesn’t like? That he’s not buddy buddy with all the players? What a joke. Giannis is an idiot for this.

We could have had one of the best coaches in the league and instead he went to an immediate rival in our conference. We ended up with a terrible coach just because Giannis wanted him, he did a terrible job and got fired halfway through the season. Now we have another mediocre coach (yes he’s better than Griffin, but it would be almost impossible not to be) who is basically a worse version of Bud with his unwillingness to make adjustments in the playoffs. And hilariously, he’s the guy the Sixers fired in favour of Nurse.

Giannis’ opinion on coaching options should be taken much less into account from now on.
Have you ever worked for someone you don't like? Sucks and rarely leads to top performance.

Again we don't even know if it was a personality thing I'm just saying if it was that's a completely valid reason not to hire Nurse. It's also completely reasonable that Giannis by virtue of being the best god damn player in franchise history would get input.

Funny how Woj/Shams/Haynes all post the news at the exact same moment. I have zero doubt they knew last night but couldn’t confirm until whoever feeds them regularly gave them the ok. The NBA breaking news business feels slimy.

If you asked me in the summer if I'd have wanted Doc Rivers my answer would have been hell no. I think he's clearly a worse coach compared to Bud. That said, I think Doc is roughly a league average coach. He's competent which is a big step up from Griffin. This Bucks roster might be able to win with a competent, generic, league average Head Coach.

Now go get Dave Joerger
Dealing with people who exhibit the "smartest person in the room" syndrome can be a challenge. One approach is to listen their opinion while also encouraging open-mindedness. It's important to create an environment where all voices are valued.

Doc is not following Bud. He's coming after a nakedly incompetent hire into a less-than-ideal situation. The timing of this meant that finding the ideal candidate was unlikely. If Doc flops, he'll be gone this offseason too in search of a real coach.

What has Nurse done that’s so bad that Giannis doesn’t like? There doesn’t seem to be anything about him that makes him dislikable that other coaches don’t have. Like does he whine too much against the refs or something ??? Of course Giannis should have some input on coaching hires. But it shouldn’t be ‘Giannis says no Nurse means no Nurse’.
still learning the game

Careful... that's a little too much logic for some on this board

I get firing a coach midseason and finishing with an interim.

I do not get how bringing in a whole new coach midseason can work.

Bottom line for me is that I like our chances to contend for a championship today much more than l did 48 hours ago.

Hiring Griffin was a massive mistake and it took balls to recognize that and attempt to reconcile it.
