Did Doc interview for the job last summer? I can't remember.

At least we have a fighting chance of winning a championship this year now.

Now that the defense is solved (took me three seconds to fix), he will hopefully put the ball in Dame’s hands and run more pick and roll actions with Giannis.

Great now that thats done we can expect the same **** playoff outcome we got from Bud every year.

Doc is a re-tread HC with a limited ceiling. But he can at least be a head coach. this team is 30-13 despite having one of the most incompetent coaches to ever get a job. If doc can step in and do the simple things like call a fukin play, or set up an inbounds play, or simply scheme for an opponent, this team will be a contender.

This team will be judged by playoffs only and Docs record hasn't been great in the playoffs. here's hoping having 2 top 75 players can overcome some of that.

How long is the deal? If I am doc, i ask for a boatload and YEARS. the owners will now be paying 3 COACHES this year, LOL. I don't want doc for more than this year, but we may see it, unless they flame out come playoff time.

My copium: even if all Doc does is make a shift to a more conservative defense and bumps up Dame's on-ball usage a bit more as well as the Dame/Giannis 2-man game, it's going to make a big difference. If Horst can steal a POA defender to swap in for Beasley spot in the S5, that'll be a game changer as well. The weak playoff tactician stuff is a real concern with Doc but again this is where Dame/Giannis being late game assassins will help a lot.

There is a 100% chance Doc would be retained if the Bucks make it past the 1st round imo, even if he doesn't I don't think its super likely they fire him unless Giannis calls for it. Doc is like 2000% more charismatic than Griffin, I think it will take longer for him to lose the team than Griffin who not only was clueless x's & o's wise but seemed socially incompetent as well.

There is so much on the line for this team. Giannis is knocking on the top 10, Dame gets the validation of a championship, Doc gets to shed a mantle, the owners get to justify their spending, Horst keeps his job. If they don't play like their asses are on fire now, then they truly have no heart and it's time to rebuild/retool.

OT: I know Giannis has long-ass arms but he is still not close to knocking on the top 10. He's no higher than 18 right now. His absolute ceiling even with 2 more rings is probably 12.

Zooming out, you hope Giannis and the FO takes some big things away from this colossal screw-up. It sounds like Giannis was beyond frustrated by how last season ended, and for good reason - Bud is a good coach, and he had extraordinary circumstances, but he was awful against Miami, and it was of a kind with his playoff issues in years past.

The franchise ended up in a really bad spot trying to correct for all that, ending up with a coach who was a strategic and tactical mess, was blatantly insecure from the jump, and who tried to protect his job by pandering to the players. Dude lost the locker room 30 games in. Giannis stopped listening even earlier.

You can't go back in time, or else I'd feel worse about Doc coming in. He's a decent coach with a good reputation for managing a locker room. We have a bunch of guys with good reputations in the locker room. I think that's gonna be okay. This team is so talented it went 30-13 with an absolutely broken coaching situation. Doc isn't a top 5 guy, but we only need stability and some common sense to see big improvements.

I'm ok with Doc for a few years but it all depends on a Championship.

This is so on the money -- and I would add that, in today's player empowerment era, Giannis signing his extension is not a guarantee he wouldn't become dissatisfied enough to ask for a trade, despite his ongoing loyalty.

The time is truly now.

Doc is going to walk in with a lot of job security. Very interested to see how that dynamic works out because he's here at least another 2.5 years.

The team has like the 8th best differential in the league with a super easy schedule and really good health. 30-13 doesn’t tell the whole story.

Doc is not a great tactician, but he’s above average managing stars and getting buy in. He has credibility. We just went from a D- nba coach to a B.

Hiring Griffin was a fireable offense IMO, Horst definitely shouldn't get to hire another coach after Doc

I'd try to get Dave Joerger. Helped Doc last year. Perfect fit. I think he works for the Cavs now, so just have him stay in Milwaukee.

Joerger is a must imo. He's available, is a pretty good coach, he'd be a fantastic add as an assistant.

Outside of him, I actually think every one of Doc's other assistants from his last year in Philly is working somewhere else, with only one of them possibly in a position that he'd leave for the Bucks:

Sam Cassell - Assistant to Mazzulla in Boston
Dan Burke - Assistant to Monty in Detroit
Brian Adams - Assistant to Monty in Detroit
Eric Hughes - Assistant to Kidd in Dallas
Jamie Young - Assistant in college, so he might actually be down to come over

Is Joerger available? I have no idea how asst. coaching contracts work, much less those of 'coaching consultants'. I would assume he could make the switch if he wanted but there's nothing behind that, really.
