Roco to be re-evaluated in 3-4 weeks for his knee. He's absolutely getting traded IMO.
Curious what we'd have to add to RoCo/Morris to get Jerami Grant.
Grant and Caruso+Drummond acquisitions would be stellar.

A very simplified answer to your question is payroll can generally be higher if you don’t use cap space because you can go over the cap to keep your own players or trade them for other players.

Maybe.
He sucks in the regular season, but he has some surprising big game moxie. For instance, he somehow shoots 40% from three on over 2 makes per game through 28 career playoff games.

The Heat will always be formidable with Spoelstra, but Butler can't keep going into berserk mode every playoffs. At some point his body is going to not allow it. he's getting up there in age. Without berserk Butler, the Heat are not that scary.

I don't see why not for 10-12 minutes or something.

My guess is that Daryl Morey sees no significant difference among these $20 million players, whether it's from Dejounte Murray to Tyus Jones, Siakam to Bogdanovic, or OG Anunoby to Dorian Finney Smith. He's likely waiting it out and plans to take advantage of whatever is left over, ensuring we have plenty to work with in the upcoming offseason.

Have you seen how good Gabe Vincent, Max Struss or Caleb Martin can become in the playoffs?
The Heat got some guys who can atleast sustain or improve their level of play in Jacquez, Herro, Rozier and Bam. They’d be alright.

I believe we have too many players whom the defense can leave open, taking their chances to beat us in a playoff series. This includes Melton, Oubre, Batum, and probably Tobias.

Drummond and Caruso are kinda my main smaller targets rn. I would love to get an additional initiator but I just don't see one thats worth the expenditure of assets rn.
They say an analytics man doesn't have a heart, but I ran the numbers and nothing can be further from the truth - Sam Hinkie probably

One guy I guess Morey would like is Xavier Tillman.
I like him from analytics standpoint (similarly to all the players that Grizz drafted), i think he’s very underrated for he’s buried on the bench by the depth of the grizz bigs. And he only costs $1.7M. He’s elite in rim protection and deflections, can do some facilitating and shoot some 3, can be a lot better rebounder and scorer.

I also think he's good, but he's playing a career high 20.5 MPG?

Re: 76ers 2023-24 Season Thread Part 2
I think Tillman's shotblocking numbers are just inflated this year. His career block numbers more closely resemble a PF.
He's a stocky 6'8" below the rim kind of player. He's not really the type of player that will protect the rim or deter people from coming in the lane.
Also, his shooting numbers are bad so he's not a guy you can stick at PF. His playmaking is cool, but not enough to overcome the lack of size and shotblocking.

The top 10 centers in Rim Points Saved/75
1. Walker Kessler
2. Rudy Gobert
3. Joel Embiid
4. Kristaps Porzingis
5. Ivica Zubac
6. Chet Holmgren
7. Xavier Tillman
8. Isaiah Hartenstein
9. Anthony Davis
10. Brook Lopez
The top 10 centers in deflections/75
1. Paul Reed
2. Andre Drummond
3. Kelly Olynyk
4. Nikola Jokic
5. Goga Bitadze
6. Xavier Tillman
7. Alperen Sengun
8. Drew Eubanks
9. Daniel Theis
10. Dario Saric
His scoring # is bad. He often settles for floaters, thats the downside with him. But Grizz offense is also bad, there’s nobody that sets him up and they often play clunky units. I think Tillman’s scoring #s will improve with spacing and playmaker.
Low risk. Just 1.7m contract and Grizz might just want to get some cap room and then replace him with Zach Edey or Dayron Holmes like how they did the Melton for Roddy trade.

wasting assets to fill what should be a 13 minute at most role is dumb.

I honestly hope Daryl Morey doesnt think Dorian Finney Smith is a comparable player to OG because that would mean he is an imbecile. OG is a way better player. I wouldnt give up more then a heavily protected first for Finney Smith that would likely convert to 2 seconds. And Tyus Jones might be fairly comparable to Dejaunte Murray in overall impact although I personally think in a vacuum Murray is a better player but they are very different at how they get there. Murray is taller, longer, and more athletic. Jones is the better shooter 3pt shooter and floor general. Murray could guard Jrue Holiday, Jaylen Brown, and for small stretches possibly Jason Tatum. With Tyus Jones you have a tiny back court with him and Maxey. Murray can also create his own offense much easier. For the Sixers at least I dont see the argument for Tyus Jones over Murray if the cost is relatively close given the Sixers needs and current roster. Yes lets add another tiny guard to go with Maxey, Melton, and Pat Bev!
