I have had a love hate relationship with both KAT and Ant since they were drafted, but you sir aren’t just missing the boat tonight, you’re in the wrong ocean. Ant shot 3-11, 1-4 from 3 and had 9 points. Karl shot 21-35, 10-15 from 3 and scored 62 points. Your theory is what if Ant shoots 10 of those Karl shots we score more points? Karl is the more efficient scorer but already defers to Ant on most nights. BTW, Finch did what you suggested and benched KAT for 3 minutes in the fourth with Ant in there, it didn’t help. Ant is far from a finished product and pretending he is SGA doesn’t make him SGA.
Additionally, do you see KD saying god I wish I had less shooters around me so I can shoot more. How about any other major star. Of course not. KD went to Kyrie and said let’s go to Brooklyn. In Brooklyn they told ownership they wanted Hardin brought in. Don’t like that example, do you see Embiid or Maxey calling for the other to be traded? How about SGA saying we need less JW so I can shoot more? Lebron illegally recruited AD and wanted Westbrook believing they could carry the scoring load. That failed so he said bring me Dlo. That failed so he said bring me Murray or Lavine. The moral of the Lebron story, stars want teammates to help carry the scoring load and make things easier. One more example, Tatum and Brown got ownership to bring in KP and Jrue Holiday to make things easier for them.
Karl is not the problem, the offense is the problem. Nothing is easy because nothing is schemed. We have one PG who didn’t play and another who is a legit 3rd string and not really NBA caliber (but he has good nights where we can pretend he is.) This is not a winning formula and Finch is rapidly becoming the problem with his inability to find a solution.
You especially should love Ant's game tonight. 11 Assists and 1 Turnover.
Honest question as I don’t know the answer, how many of those were to Karl? I love that Ant was looking to pass, but I don’t love his shot selection, or result. The true All NBA guards are not usually one or the other. Mike is someone for whom points is a perk, but the expectation is the offense works better and we have a lot of easier shots and therefore more shots with assists. Ant’s primary role is scoring while developing play making. If Ant has an efficient 9 points on 6 shots and 11/1 AST/TO I would encourage him to shoot more, but be pleased. 9 points on 11 shots is very inefficient, as is no assists in the fourth quarter to go along with 1-4 for 4 points. With Mike out NAW stepped up, and Ant had a bad game. There is no shame in having a bad game, but let’s not pretend the solution to the loss was giving Ant shots that went to Karl. What was needed was a better offensive scheme and better ball movement to create better shots.
