My guess is the battle lines have been drawn and it’s a stalemate with one waiting for the other to budge.
Knicks have been linked to other players but one thing about Brown is that team option gives them a lot of flexibility they wouldn’t otherwise have with an expiring or guaranteed contract for next season.
Fournier, Grimes, and a first…just get it over with already lol
The math tells me that the Knicks will be making or trying very hard to make another move before the deadline. Given the fact that that they're trying to win and have no capspace coming up, it wouldn't make sense for them to allow Fournier to sit around and expire. Fournier's deal gives them an opportunity to add another good player to their team without having to disrupt the rotation too much.
My guess is they're shopping around a Fournier + Grimes package with FRPs potentially on the table, depending on who's coming back. The best player that fits their needs and is available for that package is what they'll pull the trigger on. Rumors have it that they have their eyes on Murray but that package seems a little light, since ATL would then need to go out and find a replacement at SG. Maybe something like Fournier, Grimes and picks for Murray and Bey?
If that, or something like it, doesn't get done then they'll circle back around to us for Bruce Brown. I don't think we're getting a FRP AND Grimes though.
