Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
I'd trade PJ for a borderline lottery 1st. 15-20 range. He has a useful skillset, he just needs a structed offense instead of whatever we have.
At best Richards is probably only worth a couple 2nd's. And we'd be trying to draft another Richards with those picks (contributing rotational player). So I don't have much motivation to trade him until we see how the other C we drafted this year does.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
To me, it all depends on the caliber of return he commands.
I would have zero desire to deal him for a couple seconds. But if some playoff team preparing for a deep post season run and in dire need of a big was willing to pay a premium and offer up a first in the 17-25 range, I'd consider it.
I happen to like Richards, a lot.
But I'm fine listening to offers for anymore not named LaMelo, Miller or Mark..

Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
He’s an extremely low cost controlled player. You aren’t going to get similar quality players without making a bigger deal including extra players, which lessens the return you’ll get directly for him.

Trading a solid backup center who is only 26 years old and makes only 5 million a year would be ridiculously idiotic.

I’d listen to all offers, doesn’t mean I’d trade him, but who knows what is offered

Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
I agree, I would not trade Richards for 2nds especially if that is the only other deal done up until that point. Now if we pull off a Hayward or Lowry trade that brings in 2/3 other bodies then that is when I start to look at maybe flipping Richards. Hopefully one of those bodies is a center in one of those deals.
We are probably going to owe 2 2nds to San Antonio in the very near future. Would be our own 26 and 27 2nds, which are not tradeable since they are tied up in current trade language. We don't own our 2nds this year, because... we traded it to pick Nick Richards. We have Boston 2nd this year, but it is projected to be last pick in draft. We can't trade our 25 2nd because it tied up in language for Brad Wanamaker deal, we are keeping it unless we are a top 5 team, so not worried there. Then we have extra 2nds in 27 and 28.
Ideally if we flip Hayward for a bunch of microdeals that means we likely can cut the fat off our roster with Bouk, Mensah, Ish etc. Speaking of Bouk I think he has maybe 2 weeks left on the team, I think the only reason we haven't cut him yet is because his contract is useful in a potential trade as flexible 4.5 million expiring.
The type of deal I would consider for Richards would be based around 1. Getting a first, which seems far fetched. 2. Getting a prospect and 1 2nds 3. Getting 2-3 2nds to restock the fridge.
Suns are rumored to be looking for a center. Obviously they can't afford Bridges as the rumors are swirling for some reason... but if they offered Nas Little and 2 2nds for him that is probably something I at least entertain. Others that interest me in potential Richards deal from teams that could use more size... Kings Davion, OKC Tre Mann, Rockets Tate...

Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
An example of what I was saying... If we know the Mavs are giving us Richaun Holmes+ stuff in either a PJ or Hayward deal. Even though Holmes is a negative asset and makes 7 million more than Richards next year.. I would probably feel better about sending Richards for a reasonable price somewhere because at least Holmes is a real body that can play mins this year and ideally be an emergency 3rd center next year at 12 million expiring (could flip again at that point).

Toying around with a three-team where we help out the Lakers and Hawks (seeing as the Hawks don't want Russell). Gets us value for Gordo, gets the Hawks a talented young player and a 1st, gets the Lakers what they want + win-now support in Hayward and cap relief this summer.

Agreed. Also no way Murray is sold that cheap.
Also why would we want to take on Russell's player option for next year? Makes no sense we get nothing back.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
I think any potential Lakers-Hawks-Hornets trade would be something like
Hornets trade
Kyle Lowry
2027 2nd (portland)
Hornets in
DLo
filler
Hawks trade
DeJounte Murray
filler
Hawks in
Lowry
2029 first
2030 swap
Max Christie
2027 2nd portland
Lakers trade
DLo
2029 unprotected first
2030 swap rights
Lakers in
DeJounte Murray
Basically, the Hawks just don't want DLo and would prefer sweetener and expiring it sounds like. Which is why we are in the mix because we have a bunch of expiring now. The question is, do we value DLo who has a PO next year that is probably picked up. He is only 27 and brings some shooting, playmaking to fill the void Terry just left. I would assume the plan would be to reflip DLo later as an expiring which is probably better than his value now because at 19 million next year its just pretty meh for most teams it seems.
I don't really have a good feel on what DLo is expected to net but I would be surprised if it is a first. Here I gave up a 2nd, but honestly maybe Atl is offering incentive to move him for an expiring just to get the Murray trade over the finish line.

Hating on a 39 year old LeBron is WILD!
Lakers championship window has passed Murray and a injured Hayward is not helping them win the West.

Seems like we really might try to turn those expirings into extra picks.
Wiggins does nothing for us though.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
My wild, unrealistic trade idea: CHA - GSW swap of Hayward, Miles, PJ for Klay, Kuminga, C. Joseph
Basically us cutting bait on Miles, swapping expirings, and us betting on Kuminga being a better fit long term than PJ.
