If we compare Doc with other guys on this list we can say that his teams choked and we can say this and that. But he IS on this list !

Listening to Dunc'd On, Nate brought up how over-the-top Doc prioritizes getting back on D over crashing the boards. I've got my qualms with Nate, but it was a great point and it is the low-hanging fruit that can catapult our defense to a respectable level. Combine that with his ability to manage star players, his PnR history (Rondo+KG, CP3+Blake, Harden+Embiid), and the fact that we have Giannis/Dame/Khris closing games-- this could work. Not to mention whatever else Horst can pull off on the trade market.

The narrative on NBA radio this afternoon was that Griffin had a great scheme that the entitled Bucks veterans refused to buy into because it made them uncomfortable. Rather than learning how to play in the new system, they rebelled and unjustly forced Griffin out, with complicity from a front office incapable to standing up to today's star players.

They dumped most vehemently on Lopez and Giannis.

To prove their point, they cited the video of the pre-game lineup introduction dance. The players were not appropriately somber.

Yesterday they said to watch out for the Bucks signing Lowry in the buyout market to shore up the defense (they came back later to note that "fine print" in the CBA prevents heavy tax payers, including the Bucks, from signing Lowry or other high paid buyout players. Why would radio talk show hosts read the "fine print" that has been splashed all over the internet?).

I have not heard any pundit discuss the disarray and lack of cohesion that plagued the Bucks veteran core under Griffin.

If the analysts had the balls to call guys like CP3, James Harden & Ben Simmons what they actually are: Chokers.

The narrative around the Doc Rivers hire would be a lot of different.

BS

Doc lost the Hawks series for the Sixers with his ridiculous rotations

He should have been canned for that alone

DO NOT fool yourself into thinking this guy has a clue

lol that’s like the one series where you can put all of the blame on one player…Ben Simmons. His career basically ended that series.

This isn’t meant as a full defense of Doc, I didn’t follow those 6ers teams closely, but literally every fanbase complains about rotations. Go down to Miami and San Antonio and you’ll find a good subsection of those fanbases complaining about it, too.

It’s so widespread that the complaint likely has lost a lot of meaning.

I suspect people most often are reacting to the team looking worse when the subs come on, but like, yeah, you’ll look worse when the main starters aren’t in the game.

Rotation issues exist, but when that’s the big complaint I’m usually suspicious.

So when the hell is Doc being announced?

Is it standard for the entire sports world knowing a Coach has been hired for days, along with contract details while the Organization has been radio silent??

would be kinda weird if he's not at the game tonight

I wouldn't be surprised if there was some sort of buyout with ESPN or something, I'm sure they're not happy losing their lead color guy in the middle of the season and I'm also sure Doc wasn't making peanuts

Two days in training camp, Danuel House Jr. explained what a Nurse practice has been like.

“Great,” said House Jr. “I mean, breaking everything down, working with guys, taking his time teaching us new things, and giving us confidence. So it’s been great for the last, I would say, 48 hours for all of us.”

House Jr., in his second season in Philadelphia, was asked to describe the differences between the two coaches. The veteran out of Texas A&M went on to discuss what he views are two different coaching styles.

“It’s just a lot more selfless basketball,” House Jr. explained. “It’s not so much of two guys having a ball. Doc is two guys, ball dominant. Nick Nurse is everybody play together. Everybody works with each other. Help, cuts, get your brother open shots. You can see the difference night and day.”

It is true the Sixers ran a lot of pick-and-roll under Rivers, and why not? Joel Embiid and James Harden nearly ran it to perfection.

Hopefully Gleeson & Prunty stick, along with bringing in Joerger. Ball movement is crucial, as great a combo Dame & Giannis are.

That's a nice narrative House gave, but you would think it would show in the stats. This season the 76ers are 6th in offense, last season they were third. Defense is the same (6TH VS. 8TH) and the Net rating last season vs. this season is the same-third in the league.

So there isn't a lot of changes so far on the results of the two coaches.

It's Doc's fault he didn't turn Blake Griffin into Kevin Garnett or turn Ben Simmons into not a headcase or get Harden to give a ****, imo. I mean, these guys are known winners who have won a lot without Doc, imo

I wonder if Doc's current employer is throwing a monkey wrench into the works. Not something I expect ESPN to report on because, you know.

It is a little strange to be in limbo like this, though.

Woj reported it's done and Breen said goodbye on ABC. 100% there's an out in Doc contract for the NBA.

Really doubt this delay is due to Micky Mouse.

Listening to Fischer on his pod. Basically alludes to Joeger possibly not joining due to paying 3 HCs. Another high salary Assistant might be too much for ownership.

Does Fischer have any real insight on the Bucks? Has never struck me as a guy very connected.
